Excellent Machine and Just What We Needed!
Our house is roughly 2/3 carpet and 1/3 hardwood floors. We also have two cats (certainly not nearly enough to be considered overrun, even less a feline rescue home), and those two little darlings track litter. Lots of litter. Between times hauling out our heavy vacuum, I’ve been using a cordless car vac to collect all the little white grains of litter off of the hardwood. Well, our daughter-in-law recently visited, saw me with the car vac (immediately took over), and enthusiastically recommended this cordless Shark upright. She extolled how great it is in cleaning floors, how I’d love the cordless feature, and how much better it would be for me to not be using the car vac. She was absolutely correct. I love this vacuum! It’s quiet, holds its charge for roughly 40-45 minutes, is easy to maneuver, and most important, takes care of all the kitty litter along with dust and cat hairs. The rotating blades are very efficient and seemingly act to leave the floors looking like they’ve been polished. It’s not exactly what I’d call lightweight , but it’s not too burdensome. It took me awhile to study the manual (which was easy to print off the internet), but the various attachments, filters, and modes of operation are pretty much intuitive. I’ve found I can do the entire hardwood floors 3X on one charge, and I’ve easily taken apart and cleaned the bin and filters each time the vacuum has needed recharging. Based on the manual, that frequency is unnecessary, but I like to keep the vacuum as clean as possible. I have only two minor complaints which do not detract from the 5 star rating: 1) I wish the battery charge indicator light were placed on top rather than on the side so that it’d be easy to glance at while the vacuum is in use. As it is, I know generally when I’m close to running out of power, but the end has also come as a surprise (and it always comes without warning). A visible, low power warning light would be helpful in timing more closely what specific areas to clean first; and 2) the HEPA filter doesn’t lift out on ours. The instructions I read and the Shark Company video I watched—along with other videos—show it just lifting out easily. Ours is clearly not moving. It doesn’t appear by any stretch as if it’s put in crooked, but it’s not budging. I figure when the time comes for cleaning it, I’ll have to take it to a vacuum repair shop, as I’m not about to force it loose. BTW, I’ve not used this vacuum on carpets. I know it’s supposed to work well on any flooring, but our carpets have a deep pile and I figure the Shark would lose power quickly in that environment plus the standard upright vacuum we have does an excellent job. The Shark has its established niche in my cleaning routine and it’s a very welcome addition!

Perfect Vacuum – So Good I Bought It Twice!
This is my second time purchasing this vacuum, and I couldn’t be happier. I originally bought a different model in-store thinking I’d try something new, but it just didn’t compare. After a few frustrating uses, I went straight to Amazon to find the same vacuum I had before—and thankfully, it was still available! It’s reliable, powerful, and easy to use. I love how well it handles pet hair and everyday messes without losing suction. The design is simple but effective, and it’s clear this vacuum was built to last. I won’t be straying again—this is my go-to from now on! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a dependable vacuum that gets the job done right.

Lightweight, Cordless, Easy to Charge
(Review based on comparison to corded Shark Duo Clean) Best feature: Cordless! Easy to move from room to room for a whole-house clean. 👍👍 It has a similar waste bin as my other shark model and similar filters. Main difference is that this one has an air filter similar to a car air filter that will need changed eventually. That was a little disappointing because I don't like having to buy new filters all the time, but this one looks like it won't need changed for a long time. (Fingers crossed).👍👎 The "Under furniture" feature is pretty nice and easy to use.👍 As you can see in pictures, the base is smaller and it doesn't grip at the front at all, so you have use the crevice tool for edges.👎 It has a light, but only on the base. The other shark model had the light on the engine so that you had visibility even when using the stick/attachments. That was disappointing too.👎👍 It is very lightweight and easy to use.👍 Can easily transition between carpet and hard flooring. 👍 Easy charging (battery is removable). 👍 Overall it is a decent vacuum but I want all the filters to be washable/reusable and I want visibility/light for all modes of operation. Nonetheless, the value for this truly lies in the cordless feature and the easy waste bin use. This won't be replacing my old Shark Duo Clean entirely, but it has made it easier and faster to vacuum in a pinch.

Great Vacuum for Pet Hair, Food Debris, Dirt & Dust! Works great for Hardwood Floors & Carpets!
We have a three level house, and previously had two plug-in uprights stored in our carpeted basement and carpeted upper level respectively, and had to haul one of them either up or down to clean the main level, which is all hardwoods except for a carpeted main level guest suite (which I use as my office) and a few area rugs. We adopted a rescue pup who stays on the main level, so we needed something more convenient that could handle her hair and tracked dirt along with food debris in the kitchen across the hardwoods, area rugs and the one carpeted room, while preferably lasting long enough to cover the entire ~1850sqft main level in one go. After a lot of research, I chose the Vertex Duo. When I first received the vacuum I tested it out through the entire main level. Not only did the vacuum last the entire level, but it still had a solid power bar remaining. I didn't realize how dusty our hardwoods were!!! Halfway through vacuuming, I noticed in the foyer that what I had vacuumed was glossy, while the floor ahead of me was almost matte!! The light on the front of the vacuum is excellent as well for showing dust and debris which are otherwise difficult to see! I've been using the Duo regularly for a few months now and it has been a blessing (and is actually fun to use). I keep it on hardwood setting with regular suction over our hardwoods and smaller rugs / runners, only occasionally having to pull the turbo trigger, and it does a wonderful job. I use it on the carpet setting across larger 6x8 and 7x10 area rugs and in my office, and have never had to use the turbo function for it to get everything! Every once in a while I have to go over a string the dog pulled off her tug toy or similar a couple times, but the vacuum always gets it and never tangles. It leaves a clean floor with nice vacuum lines in my office as well. I can often track where my 8yo son has been by following the crumb trail - the Duo excels at making those trails disappear as well! I'm 6'2", so I love being able to unlock and flex the vacuum to get under couches, tables, desks and such without bending over / messing up my back! I've also used all the tips as well! The anti-allergen tip is awesome for our TV, tables, blinds, fans, etc... It swivels so you can get both above and below fan blades! The brush is great for furniture, air registers / returns, etc... The brush unclips to expose the 'pet muli-tool' which I have only used a couple times since our dog isn't allowed on furniture, but it did well pulling various fibers off, so I'd assume it would do well with pet hair as well. The handheld portion is light weight, and the edging tool does great on baseboards, corners, cars, etc... I couldn't be happier with this vacuum - it does everything I hoped it would and more, and offers a huge bang for the buck! I'm not joking when I said it's actually fun to use - I find myself vacuuming more now than ever (and not just because we have a dog)...

Light, high quality cordless vacuum!
This cordless vacuum is one of the lightest and easiest to handle that I’ve ever used. It works on both hard and soft surfaces. It knows when to apply more or less suction, which is a really neat feature, and ensures that it picks up the most dirt possible. It has a soft scent that it leaves behind. It’s easy to empty. Easily one of the highest quality vacuums I’ve purchased in recent years.

Vacuum with a good idea, but one MAJOR flaw
I'll start off by saying I was really, REALLY looking forward to this vacuum. I watched multiple video reviews about this vacuum and the "DouClean" tech, and I thought it seemed simply amazing, genius even, and figured it would be the best vacuum in the world. However, I quickly found there was one MAJOR flaw with this vacuum that completely ruins the whole thing: static shock. The static electricity buildup in the vacuum is immensely amplified due to the soft roller in the DouClean tech and there is no proper dispersion of this static electricity, leaving your hand to get shocked every few seconds when using it. The shocks seem to get stronger and stronger as well and by the 4th or 5th time this happened to me in a row, after just a few minutes of vacuuming, I was genuinely scared to use it any longer. My girlfriend wouldn't even touch the thing after getting shocked just once. So I stopped for a while, tried to charge it hoping that would ground it or something and get rid of the problem, but after multiple tries I just could not get the thing to stop shocking me. There is a tiny metal plate in the handle as well which is supposed to help with the static dispersion by keeping you grounded, but the thing is a complete joke. The plate is so tiny that 2 fingers will barely even fit on it at the same time and it is so flush with the handle that you have to hold it with a strong grip just to keep your fingers on it, making it almost stressful to vacuum knowing that as soon as you lift a finger you'll get shocked. Then even when your fingers are on the plate firmly, it will still shock you from time to time! If the plate was like three times as long, twice as wide, and protruded from the handle like a fourth of an inch or so, it might not have been completely useless. I see this flaw as a MAJOR oversight, which could even end up causing a health problem for someone. The shocks hurt after just a few times, and they make using the vacuum incredibly uncomfortable and stressful. Like I said, I was really looking forward to this vacuum, and the DouClean tech and hair wrap removal fins did really seem to work wonderfully, but I just don't want to be in fear of getting shocked constantly while using this. I was incredibly disappointed and sad this had such a major flaw. If they ever make a new model or a change that fixes this issue, I would definitely try it again. But until then, I cannot recommend this vacuum to anyone.

I’m in love with a vacuum
Buy it no matter what, that’s all I can say. When we purchased corded vacuums I got the Shark Navigator and haven’t gone back to any other corded brand. In choosing cordless though I always thought it was more of a gimmick than a true tool so I tended to buy cheap knock offs to just get pet hair from the floors and possibly something heavier like dirt. Anything else and the two cordless vacuums were so underpowered that I never believed it would come close to really cleaning up much at all. When our third cheap brand cordless died in less than a year, I thought I’d upscale to something that might last over a year. I took nearly a month researching brand after brand to find one that was both affordable, reliable and powerful enough for us. Ultimately I bought this Shark Vertex for the following reasons: 1) At $365 it was half the price of a Dyson. It was still twice as much as what I’d paid for cheap no name brands but I needed something that would actually last. While not cheap, I could afford it. 2) The problem with no name brands is that if one piece is lost or broken they don’t tend to sell parts for them. With this Shark I made sure that there were replacement parts for anything I might break, and there are. Any repairs down the line should cost tens of dollars from now on, not another $100-150 to buy another cheap cordless to throw away a few months later. 3) This thing is powerful. Wow. None of the other cordless vacuums I had really did much on carpet. The brush might grab some of the detritus on the rugs but it was a 50-50 crap shoot. As for pet hair, that was even worse. This Vertex is pretty incredible. On carpet mode I’m able to get it on my deep plush rug and get pet hair and anything else right off. You know it’s working when you can’t see anything on the rug but after you go over it there’s all this captured filth sitting in the container! Not only does the rotating head work really well (and especially the anti hair tangling feature) but the suction is very good. Obviously not as good as the corded but definitely good enough. We are alternating cord-cordless every weekend so that we get extra deep cleaning every other week. Battery power is impressive. We’ve done the two large rugs downstairs, the hard wood floors, the carpeted stairs and four carpeted bedrooms all one one charge-just. But that it’s able to do all of that is really impressive. Additionally you can also purchase another battery for $80 if you think you might runout if power. The “crack” feature which allows the handle to look like a broken arm and get to almost a 90 degree angle so that you can get under furniture is a pretty nifty feature. I thought it was a silly gimmick but I use it quite a bit. One thing that bothers me though is that the little toggle that releases the straight arm into the angle is a small plastic piece that I’m pretty sure I’m going to accidentally break off one day-need to check if THAT part is replaceable. Couple other things I didn’t like: There’s no wall mount but that’s probably because it’s heavy at nearly 10 lbs. Took a couple uses to get used to the new weight but once you get used to it, it’s definitely worth the trade off of some extra weight for extra power. The other thing is that the roller head is not only larger because of the dual rollers, but it’s pretty noisy on the carpet mode. Again, I think it’s a fair trade off to get a louder heavier roller head for much more effective cleaning power. All in all this vacuum is a keeper. The vacuum is warrantied for defects for up to 5 years! For normAl wear and tear of parts that need to be replaced, those items are available on the Shark store and on Amazon.

Disappointing
I've been using this vacuum for a while now. I finally reached the conclusion that I think it is "disappointing". The suction power is merely OK. Nothing to write home about, and compared to my Shark Navigator corded vacuum it just doesn't cut it. I was particularly disappointed when I discovered the power head was completely clogged. I have no idea what stopped it up but most of the clog packed into the suction opening was dog hair. The clog was several inches long and I had to get long forceps to get it out, The only plus side was the removable bottom cover plate; the negative part of the removal process is you need a tool to release the three locks on the cover. Once the cover is removed it is fairly easy to get to the clog. Another negative to the clog is it caused a build-up of dog hair inside the clear top of the brush chamber. You can't get that out without major disassembly. Another minus is lack of accessories. I need something that is simply a round, short wand to clean my coffee roaster. The included crevice tool works but is too long and too narrow to make the job easy. I looked online for accessories and find there aren't any available for Shark. The only accessory I found anywhere is an aftermarket round dust brush, something that should really have come with this vacuum. On the plus side emptying the dust bin and accessing the filters is fairly easy. So far the build quality has been good with no issues. The bottom line is I wouldn't buy this vacuum again if I'd known what I know now.
