Will this work with a Warn XD9000i ?

If it has a contactor (vs solenoids) it will.

Does the unit itself require batteries?

No it does not. It is powered by the winch's connection to the vehicle's battery.

Will this remote work with a warn vrx 25?

Nope, thing does not work at all.

Can you leave it plugged in all the time?

When it's plugged in there is an LED that will draw some power. We do not recommend leaving connected all the time.
