Not tapered! Bottoms out and leaks.
Bought these to change location of my fuel meter, 1” outlets reduced to 3/4” female on pump and meter. One did work on our premium none ethanol tank, thank god because that would be messy. It threaded like a normal NPT fitting would. The second one on my diesel tank bottomed out as you can see in the picture, its not the reducer as one is stainless and the other is cast.I used liberal amounts of Gasoila thread sealant and it started dripping on first fill up.Its 3/4” hose with a 15GPM pump that ends up being about 8GPM, not a lot of pressure and this was dripping while filling.Couldn’t imagine if you had any real pressure on this.Especially in a wall or a covered area, disaster waiting to happen.Don’t buy this!

QUALITY material, well machined
I am pleased so far for these seem well made of quality Stainless steel. I have flatware that is of stainless steel which has defects in the metal that leave pits and marks that rob it of cosmetic appearance but still of use. This could be problematic when applied to plumbing fixtures especially pipes. These appear to have none but I will soak them in chlorine bleach to make sure.I will report results in an edit to this review should it be significant.

Quality Stainless Steel
Nice clean burr-free pieces. Pretty good value for a 304 Stainless Steel part that's threaded in 2 locations. Harder than brass, and more resistant to chemical attack, especially alkaline chemicals.
