My lights will only both be the same color and both react to both remotes. Is there a way to have them be different colors at the same time?

You could try to set the light one by one with the remote, if you want different color with them, you could plug one and set it and then unplug it, then do the same with other lights. They have memory function, so when you set them done and plug them all, they will stay your last setting and show different colors.
