Easy to Use and reliable
I really like the Boadvision 2K Outdoor Camera — it’s easy to install and connect. You can share the QR code with your family, so everyone can access the camera easily. The image quality is clear, and you can check everything in real time through the app. It also has a speaker and microphone, so you can talk and listen directly through the camera. I already have four of them installed — in my father’s house, my mother’s house, and mine — and they’ve all worked great so far. Overall, it’s a very convenient and reliable camera for keeping an eye on your home.

Out of three only the one that was set to track had any sort of failure after over a year of use.
What can I say, for the price they're unbelievable. They don't zoom, it's there in the app but it's jist digital, but they pan and tilt on demand which lets me not care about how they are aimed when I put them up, and allows me to look around when I feel the need to. The PT also tries to follow people if Intelligent Tracking is on, but it likes to misdetect a lot of things and wears the motors out, as I found out on the one camera I was able to leave it on without constant hits on inanimate objects. That camera still works, but if the track of the motor isn't worn then something's nested inside of it, I'm a little afraid to find out honestly. The web interface is... simple, at best, the android app is above and beyond superior in that regard, so that's the preferable way to interact with them. I will say, since they went up, the local gas siphons haven't touched the vehicles, one thief was caught live, and we got the face of a potential burglar that got arrested when someone else called on them for trespassing on private property. Oh, and a ton of animals, cats, skunks, deer, a bear or two once, Image os mlre than clear enough to make out most details for quote a distance, though if locense plates are a need I can't say on that front because none of them are aimed very well down any roads to have a shot good for that. The functionality over wifi is alright, but I would have preferred if they could run 48V PoE/PoE+, that would make the power situation a whole lot easier to deal with since it would also be the internet, as it is the power runs are a bit ridiculous, two of them are run out of a tri split extension cord snaked around some framing just so that the cables could reach, and I used one of the included extensions for the third one, smashed it down into the crease of a window and hoped it would be fine, which it has been. Would rather just run single PoE lines out to each of them to get power, reduce the wifi traffic on the 2.4 band, and stop worrying about the low signal on the far out camera that likes to disconnect while viewing. I see PoE to barrel splitters sold, I might get a couple of 12V ones to see how that works out, again would help a ton.

seems to work well and can access via URL's
*Update 3.5 yrs after my first purchases. Currently running 14 of these cameras between two locations. I attached a table showing the detailed device type as shown in the HIP2P software, date of purchase and major issues I encountered. Can conclude that the batch I encountered back in 2022 had some manufacturing quality issues. The good news is that the manufacturer fully backs their product. I reached out to them after the pan/tilt function stopped working in camera #3, showing the insides of failed camera #2. They promptly offered to send two replacement cameras as compensation for the potential manufacturing defect. Around new year's 2026 most of these cameras started having trouble returning to their home position if motion tracking was turned on. I did reach out to the manufacturer but currently had to turn off tracking as a workaround. That last column in the table details which cameras were most affected. No pattern noticeable to-date. Still sifting through the logs. Given my recent positive experience with manufacturer support, I cranked up my star rating by two stars. Leaving it at 4 stars though because the cameras aren't 100% trouble free. I do recommend these cameras as very good value for the price, especially if you're organized enough to keep track of their operation and potential issues to be able to extract the most value out of the manufacturer support. Older updates: *Another update: ordered a 6th camera to replace the fried one. It came with the newest firmware which doesn't support a web control/config interface any longer! so I'm taking another star down because a main reason why people want an IP camera is so that they can integrate it to their own security solution together with their existing ip cameras via HTTP (as opposed to being trapped into a multitude of strange, random app ecosystems that only work with 1-2 cameras each). What's worse, the CamHi/P2pCam apps don't work through VPN due to incongruent address spaces! (that is, the 10.x.y.z address space typically allocated by VPN appliances won't work with the 192.168.x.y address space typically allocated by wifi routers!) So without the traditional http interface you can't see nor control the cameras remotely over your existing VPN solution! *Update 1.5 years later: out of the 5 cameras I bought one has died completely almost totally frying the 128 GB SD card, and another has lost the ability to switch back from night mode to day mode. The dead one had been placed outside at the NE corner of my house (and therefore never too hot conditions). The other is indoors only. I am therefore subtracting two stars because 1.5 years into service only 3 out of 5 cameras still operate without issues. *upon further investigation it appears that the wiring inside got sheared by the low friction teflon sheath that was supposed to protect it from friction :( (see attached photo). Works well, tracks a person quite nicely. You can access a snapshot at http :// <ip_address> /snap.jpg (will prompt for admin login and password). Access the video/audio stream at rtsp :// <ip_address> /11 for high resolution or at rtsp :// <ip_address> /12 for low resolution. It has a web configuration interface at http :// <ip_address>. On that page you can also monitor the video stream. Can't be more pleased. Of course I blocked it at the firewall both ways. Will see how long it lasts.

For the price, it's fantastic
If you just need something to keep an eye on your home or around the house, this is for you. I was able to set it up right away with my wireless internet. You control it with an app on your phone. It has both a microphone and a speaker, so you can listen for sounds and also speak through the camera itself. That's pretty crazy. It has Night vision, intelligent tracking, motion detection, recording, photos and videos, an alarm system, so many features. SD card support too! You can download what it saves straight to your phone as well as save video length. You can also set up push notifications for motion detection and intelligent tracking. All of this so far is well worth what it costs. There's really only a couple of downsides. The video and picture quality isn't spectacular. There isn't much zoom at all. It is powered by plug-in only. They (Boavision) DO make an extra-long extension. I had to get it. I also recommend taping the connections just to be safe. There are no batteries. I did try using this with a small solar panel, but it wasn't strong enough to keep it going at night. You really gotta use the plugin. Intelligent tracking can get a bit too responsive even at the lowest setting; wind really interferes with what it recognizes. I had it set up for push notifications but turned them off on my first windy day. It is not terrible though: I live around a lot of trees, so it's more of a me problem. Even after all this I'm still learning new things that I can do with it. If you're looking for a cheap effective camera that works to just keep a check on your home or any area really, I can recommend this one. For the price it is such a great deal. You can also have more than one going at one time. I've been considering getting a second one for a different place at my home.

Seriously lacking instruction
I wanted an IP camera that would detect motion and record video to my hard drive. I have no intention of paying a monthly fee to do something I can do for free. This was attractive for the price and that it is an outdoor device (cameras don't work through glass windows at night), and is wireless (except for power). I spent countless hours trying to get the image on my PC, only to find out it works only with (now obsolete) Microsoft Internet Explorer (it needs Active X). I did interface it with my Android phone with no difficulty. I have played with it to get motion detection and recording to my PC for many hours. The user guide does not even address these subjects. Support responds promptly but tells you nothing. They keep referring me to the mostly useless user guide and some YouTube videos that have very little to do with the whole thing. If Pan Tilt Zoom is important to you, it doesn't work usefully. The camera accommodates an SD memory card, but if you put the weatherproof cover back on, it extracts the SD card by pushing on it. If you think you can use this monstrosity the way I want to, go to their website and download the owner's guide to see for yourself. I am not a dummy, I have 6 PCs networked at home and have other cameras, including an indoor IP camera that works just fine. This camera looks good and the image is good. It might be adequate with the subscription model they want to sell you, and maybe the PTZ on my particular camera is defective and others work just fine, but in my experience, I saved money on a cheap camera and if I value my time at even $7.00/Hr., have spent it ten times over and am still not where I want to be. I think everyone would agree that a camera that won't stay where you aim it is worthless. This camera will suddenly move its "home" position for no reason. To top it off, the quality of the video is poor.

I have 4 of these and like them, but on the new model you can't log in using IP
Over several years, I've bought 4 of these cameras to use with my Blue Iris software. I use them wired to the network, not wireless. They've worked great as low-cost PTz cameras for monitoring things like my HVAC equipment in the attic and for certain outdoor security needs. I run 20+ cameras from several vendors. All of them allow me to login directly to the camera using a user name and password to have complete control over things like frame rate, bit rate, etc. Using those settings I can run these cameras at very low frame rates so that they have low overhead on Blue Iris. Until now, that is. The latest camera I received in May 2024 no longer allows you to log into the camera directly. The only way you can change the camera's internal settings now is through software on a smart phone app CamHiPro. Unfortunately, CamHiPro lets you change very few of the internal settings. For example, I can no longer change the frame rate - an essential requirement for my needs. Therefore, I'm lowering my rating to 3 stars, and I no longer can recommend this camera for use with Blue Iris. It still works with BI, but you no longer have complete control over the internal settings. I am very experienced with installing and using IP cameras. I bought this camera to fill a specific need for WiFi - all of my other cameras are hard-wired with Cat6 POE. The first one of these that I received would not connect to my network; Amazon support sent me a replacement which worked immediately, and I'm pretty impressed by its capabilities for a $50 Pan/Tilt WiFi camera. Note: this is my review of the new camera. My original review is later in this post. I bought this camera for a specific purpose: to create a portable WiFi camera that I can place anywhere on my property and run with battery power with no wiring connections at all. Why? Sometimes I want to place a camera temporarily in a location where it is not possible or practical to run network cables. One application for this camera is to monitor water flow in a culvert about 100ft downhill from my house. During heavy rain, the culvert becomes a raging torrent. I've always wanted a way to monitor it during heavy storms and especially at night. With this portable camera setup, I can now do that. Sometimes I want a temporary camera to monitor HVAC contractors working in the attic. One contractor sabotaged my A/C unit and then tried to sell me a new one. I suspect that chipmunks are climbing the downspouts on my house and running around the gutters to get to other sides of the house. Now I can check and see. ;-) I'm sure I'll think of other uses now that I have it available. Here's what I like about it: Very small and lightweight for a Pan/Tilt camera - easy to strap to a tree Very sharp video. Only 1080P so digital zoom is of no use, but for $50, it meets my needs. Reasonably fast, accurate (stops quickly), and wide-range Pan and Tilt Excellent IR and bright white LED nighttime illumination. Draws very little power (about 140ma in the daytime) Very good WiFi range (about 80-100ft outdoors on my property) Has ONVIF support, so I can quickly connect it to my Blue Iris network and control it just like my other cameras. To clarify/correct some information I found in other reviews: This camera DOES support ONVIF. I have it connected to Blue Iris with no issues This camera DOES support Static IP address, but it is labled as Fixed IP Address in Network Settings This camera DOES work with Blue Iris. Probably also with most or all software that supports ONVIF Original review of first (not working) camera follows ------------------------------------------------------------- I found the instructions somewhat hard to follow and the print size to be way too small for an old guy like me to read but I found a YouTube video that goes through the process step-by-step (but you have to continually pause it to see each step.) After much experimentation, both with WiFi and cable, I could not get the camera IP address to show up. I even set up a totally separate WiFi router to eliminate possible conflicts with the many cameras and other devices on my main network. The IP address would not show up even on the simplified network. When plugged into the router, the green LED on the socket of the camera cable glows solid green, but the LED for the corresponding port on the router was not blinking. I called the Amazon tech support number listed on the purchase record. A tech called back quickly, but it was obvious that he was reading suggestions from the camera user manual. He was systematic and polite, but I could tell we were not going to solve the problem. He offered to send a replacement camera, which I accepted. The new camera arrived in less than 24 hrs (Prime). Two thumbs up for that. I decided to go straight to a hardwired test since that usually is less prone to trouble than WiFi. Using the same simplified network with just a WiFi-connected laptop and no other devices on the network, within a minute I could see the camera's IP address and connect to it using the IP address and Chrome. That's as far as I've gotten, but the many configuration options and image clarity look promising. I'll file a new report after more testing.

Great performance for the price
I've purchased 6 of these in the past 2 years . All run 24/7 and are working great. Setup is easy and the 5MP image quality is very good. Night vision is also good out to approximately 75 feet. PTZ response time has a lag of about 1 second which is acceptable for my needs. One is mounted on a TV antenna pole 30 feet in the air. I used a larger power supply and 16ga wire for power to make up for the voltage drop that would have been lost using an extension and the provided power adapter. The camera has been exposed to everything the S Texas weather can throw at it and I haven't had a single hiccup. Audio works, but of course it's not loud. I'll be buying another one soon.
