These slicers are not flimsy. They are sturdy and made of heavy metal. Will last a long time.

I thought it would be sharper than the years old BB&B one I have. But is exactly the same blades (looks like it came from the same machine) and slices like the old one, except the metal handles are less comfortable than the plastic ones on the old one. But the small one won't slice a medium apple unless the core is perfectly centered, so I'm glad to have the larger one for anything bigger than a school boy sized apple.

The ease in which I now slice my apples. Even for my pies....
