Makes us smile every morning!
We LOVE this grinder; it brings a smile every morning! We do pour-over and debated whether we really needed to upgrade our older, entry-level burr grinder. Despite our initial questioning, we have been extremely happy with this KitchenAid Burr Coffee Grinder. โช๏ธ Quiet โช๏ธ Very consistent grind size. We're actually able to do an espresso level grind and get very full bodied pour over coffee that is not bitter. โช๏ธ Great design for the bean hopper. This is very convenient for adding / changing beans and cleaning. โช๏ธ We've had essentially no problems with static. This is great, because our old burr grinder is a static nightmare. โช๏ธ Many options to dial in grind size, grind time, no. of cups. We used a scale in the beginning to dial in on settings for our morning coffees, but no longer need the scale as the KitchenAid grinder has produced very consistent results. โช๏ธ KitchenAid quality - we've had great experience with various KitchenAid products since the 'Hobart' days and as a result, have high expectations that we'll get many years of great service from this burr grinder. Wish we had bought this earlier!

A wonderful grinder!
I replaced an OXO grinder with this one. The OXO was constantly clogging due to its angled chute between the hopper and the receptacle. It's almost impossible to clean. after using many bent paperclips, I binned it. The Kitchen Aid has a straight, vertical hole which makes cleaning a breeze. It has not clogged once. The user interface is terrific. You can dial the grind size, then the machine calculates the grind time based upon the number of cups you want. After a couple trial and error efforts, I found the perfect settings to use with my Moccamaster. I cannot speak to espresso, but this machine is perfect for drip coffee. And, it is exceptionally quiet. The OXO sounded like a plane taking off and scared my cats out of the kitchen. This machine is very quiet indeed. The quality of the parts, like the receptacle, is exceptional, and the red looks great in our kitchen. Another plus is that you can remove the bean hopper with the beans still inside if you want to clean the machine, unlike others where you need to dump the beans in a bowl. Cleaning is easy, too. The burrs pop right off and are easily cleaned with a brush (don't use water). Then you can easily clean the hole between the burrs and the receptacle to avoid clogging. I don't usually write reviews, but this is an excellent bit of kit. I know it's not on the coffee snob list of recommended grinders, but if you want a well built and attractive piece for regular coffee, I highly recommend this.

The Best Grinder for the Money and no Static Cling
Amazingly the best purchase I have ever made on Amazon. This burr grinder is quiet and sleek looking. My family liked it so much they each want one now and it is hard to find them. The variables include grind sizes, amount needed, a storage container included as part of the unit which seals when not using the grinder. There is no mess and after using it for over ten pounds of coffee in a year or less, it stills works great. The price was well worth the investment.

What a fantastic tool
Wow that is a good way to describe the Kitchen Aid grinder. I have been using a Cuisinart burr grinder for around 10 years. I was always happy with it, the job got done and grinding fresh is the best way. When that grinder finally gave in to the years of use I decided to order the Kitchen Aid. I am very satisfied with that decision. I had no idea what I was missing using the Cuisinart all those years. First the grind size is very consistent with this grinder. That is probably the most important thing to me. I had to play with the grind size a little to get what I wanted but I can tell the difference in the taste of the coffee. I never realized how inconsistent the grind she was before. The noise level is what I would describe as very quiet. I was pleasantly surprised at this, the reviews all said how quiet it was and they weren't lying. Cleaning is easy when you do it. I get all my beans from a local roaster and they do not have that oily mess on the outside so I don't get much sticking to the burrs. I really like how much you can adjust the grind time so I can figure out exactly how much I need to brew the amount of coffee I want. This allows me to ensure that I always have fresh grind when I brew some coffee. This is one of my favorite features on this grinder. In short I would highly recommend the Kitchen Aid grinder to anyone looking for a good, affordable grinder. I could not be happier with my purchase. I have been using this daily for about a month now and can't see a reason why I would change my opinion at all. YES!!! You want this wonderful tool to add to your own coffee bar.

KCG8433BM Burr Coffee Grinder OUTSTANDING
I've had many burr grinders over the years in the $85 to $120 range, but lately have been dissatisfied, quality seemed to be dropping. So I spent a couple months comparing reviews of many brands & models, finally decided to get this KitchenAid model (compared to the poorly-rated $250 Kitchen Aid burr grinder - messy, difficult to clean, etc.) Too many of the other brands in $120 - $220 range had numerous complaints about inconsistent grind, loudness, and jamming requiring frequent cleaning ... or the bane of burr grinders, STATIC mess (which I was well familiar with!). This grinder has a solid, well-built construction, exactly what you'd expect from Kitchen Aid. Two things are absolutely AMAZING: 1) it is UNBELIEVEABLY QUIET, just a soft, gravel-ly rumble at low RPM, with no "motor whine" whatsoever - quietest grinder I've ever heard, 2) the Anti-Static technology is INCREDIBLE, I have ALWAYS found EVERY burr grinder has static issues and some degree of mess is common; not with this unit, there is NO static charge WHATSOEVER. Grind drops into the lower hopper forming a conical pile just like salt or sugar, with no jumping/sticking to anything afterwards. Additionally, the dosing system is indeed intelligent. It took me a few days of fine-tuning to dial everything in, but it does so very well. Grinds are extremely consistent within each batch and across batches. The upper hopper catch-gate is a stroke of genius, I've never seen any other manufacturer have that feature, it makes cleaning - on the rare occasion you might need to clean the burrs - a whiz. No need to empty out beans ahead of removing the hopper. I do agree with one criticism mentioned by a recent reviewer; after playing with grinds, I do think the coarsest setting - French Press - is not coarse enough. On the opposite end of spectrum the finest Espresso grind is right-on. FYI, the optional (internal, mechanical) fine setting of the upper burr as delivered is set to coarse, so you can't make French Press any coarser, you can only adjust Expresso more towards Turkish ... Overall this is the best $200 I've ever spent on coffee utensils, no question about it. It is a sheer pleasure to press a button and hear this thing quietly & calmly produce a precision grind in a precision amount, and with NO STATIC. I'm not sure HOW they achieved that last part, but it WORKS - ZERO static! Unless you plan on using coarser grades like French Press, I 100% recommend this Kitchen Aid model.

Best bang for buck, works great and NO STATIC
Quite, consistent and NO STATIC. This is the one you want. We use it to grind fresh everyday, and it works great. The removable cup works great, no static, no mess. I've had two other grinders, and this is better than both, hands down.

What a great grinder! We're thrilled.
We've been using our KitchenAid Burr Grinder for a month now and we're thrilled with it. When our old grinder stopped grinding consistently after four years we decided to grit our teeth and spend more. We did our research and KitchenAid products have been good for us, so we snag this one. We congratulate ourselves on our choice every time we grind our coffee. (Actually, we can't wait to use it!) Quiet! Whodda thought? The settings are easy to use, the grind beautiful and consistent, the motor doesn't overheat. I can walk away without holding my hand around the grinder to keep a spray of coffee grounds from escaping. Not one grain escapes the KitchenAid container during grinding. The settings are easy to use, the hopper holds a large amount if you like to grind for a few days. Or you can put your espresso portafilter in a special holder and grind the amount needed for perfect espresso. The LED light goes off after a while (yeah!) There was much more mess to clean up with our previous grinders ($80 range.) We thought it was the beans we were buying - nope, it was the grinder. Well worth the extra upgrade. Love the red.

Way Too Sophisticated; Died After Three Weeks
This is a great coffee grinder and I am very pleased with it. However, it is way more sophisticated than it needs to be. I did not need all these automatic features, but I have found a work-around that allows me to use it the way I prefer. It is designed for someone who wants to fill up the hopper with beans and then dial in how many "cups" of coffee you want to grind. The problem is that nowhere in any of the instructions is a "cup" defined. Is it 5-ounces? 6-ounces? 8-ounces? 12-ounces? 16-ounces? It makes a difference, after all, and you need to know, but it's an undefined quantity. It assumes that you will be satisfied with the amount of coffee that the machine puts out based on its undefined "cup." So, let me explain my process. I only put the amount of beans required for my recipe into the hopper. I then dial in the info (which was determined by trial and error) that will make the grinder work until all the beans are ground and then shut off. It would have been so much simpler if a simple switch had been provided for me to turn it on to start and then off when finished. Now, this is what I really like about this grinder, in no particular order of importance. It is by far the quietest electric burr grinder that I have ever owned, and I have had many, including an older KitchenAid which is the loudest one ever. So, the noise level was a pleasant surprise. The bean hopper and the grounds container are both plastic. Had I known this I would never have bought it because of bad experience I have had with static electricity in the grounds catcher. The plastic grounds catchers in other grinders I have had were just nasty. The grounds had a tendency to go everywhere besides into the catcher and the grounds that went into the catcher then did not want to come out. My cabinet top was always covered with stray coffee grounds. But, guess what? So far, in the few times that I have used this grinder there has been no static problem whatsoever. I am extremely pleased with that. This grinder has 70 grind levels and every level I have placed it on has produced a consistent grind with practically no silt. This is very important to producing a great cup of joe and probably contributes to the lack of static, as well. Yes, it looks good sitting on your cabinet, if that is important to you. And it is definitely high tech, if you are into that. I would have preferred a simple on-off switch. Update: It worked just fine for about three weeks. I was very happy with it. However, a few days ago it stopped grinding before it was finished. It displayed "Error 2." The troubleshooting guide said the solution was to clean the grinding mechanism and explained how to do it. I have cleaned it spotlessly for well over a dozen times to no avail. It refuses to operate properly. After every cleaning it will grind for three or four seconds and then cut off. So, the cleaning does absolutely no good. Apparently, its motor is extremely weak and clogs if it makes contact with a random coffee bean. It was a great coffee grinder for three weeks. Now it is a piece of trash that needs to be discarded. What a disappointment.

Great, quite and affordable grinder with anti-static system
I was looking for a grinder for my Breville coffee machine and tried a couple of other options - none worked until I got this one. By default, it remembers the last grind setting, so you don't have to re-set it every time, and there's programming (which I've never used) - that's pretty much all you need for your daily use. The included portafilter holder is an amazing time-saver and super convenient. Grind is pretty consistent to my not-so-picky eye - some super-skilled coffee connossier would probably see it differently, but I'm pretty happy with it. There's also the internal burr grind size adjustment, which is set to the coarsest value by default, so if you need a finer setting, there's room for that. But the feature I'm most happy about is the anti-static system. It really works, and there are no lumps at all after grinding - that's a rare thing in this price range. Oh, and it's quieter than the competition, too. All in all, I'm super happy with the grinder, and it should be enough for all the non-pro coffee lovers.

Very quiet high quality grinder
I had a more expensive grinder that was very noisy. It failed prematurely. Despite the high cost I was going to replace it like for like. Then I noticed this grinder. It is every bit as full featured and now it is in my kitchen I can see it is also better looking. The receptacle for receiving the ground coffee is static free. The grinds all slide easily into the filter. I can still hear my radio while grinding. Grind size is fully adjustable with very fine increments. Grind time is adjustable to tenths of a second. The controls are easy to use and intuitive. There is a clear electronic display for grind size and time. This is a superbly designed quality item. I highly recommend.
