Ashley Wood Burning Stove, Heats 1,200 Sq ft, EPA Certified AW1120E-P, Black

This is very High Quality. I have used it probably 20 times. I shopped my local Firestove stores and had sticker shock. This item was really competitively priced so I wondered just how good it could be, It’s very Nice , Beautiful. FYI just ready for sticker shock on the install if, you need to have stove pipe installed through your roof as I did. Please make sure you use Contractor who has certification to install Wood Burning Stoves. Blessings to the reader!

Great stove but the ash tray is useless as nothing goes into it. Also the PDF user manual you show a link to is for a gas stove and completely useless! Finally it would be nice to have the EPA certificate for tax reasons.

Looks great. Works well. Doesn’t throw much heat, though I’ll continue to experiment, hoping it can warm up better.

Very unhappy with this stove. We set it up exactly how the instructions say to. The burn time is very short, we are having to wake up every few hours to add more wood (2-3). If we don't we have to start a new fire. The ash pan is there but no ashes fall through. We have to let it go totally out and clean it out then start a new fire. When you live in a place that drips below 0* it's not fun or pratical. The bricks are already breaking and no the fire is not getting to hot, that's why we got the temp gage to go on it. The damper does not work very well and we think that has added to burning the wood so fast. The draft is not as we expected, if any wood gets close to the front or ashes build up the air does not move. The top bolt of the door works it way out the only reason it does not come all the way out is because it has the safety clip, however the bottom bolt does not have a clip. We bought the blower kit, that was made to go with the stove, we can't use because no bolts came with the stove or the blower. We contacted the company and they sent the wrong ones. We do not feel this stove is worth the money we paid. We would not recommend this unless you have a very small space that you don't use as the main living area. We have around $3000 into the stove and everything needed to make it work and we are now looking for a different one because of the way this one does not work.

This stove is perfect for my house. It burns great after a good bed of glowing coals sits under the wood and my wood seasoned under a shed for over a year so it’s dry. The wood lasts anywhere from 1 to 3 hours depending upon the species of the tree and how much I put in there. Usually once I have a good bed of glowing coals in the bottom I can turn the air all the way down and it burns very well. As a matter of fact, my house is at the stove’s limit and with the air at it’s lowest I have to be very careful in the amount of wood I put in it or the temp will run up to 80° or more so after the stove is warmed up I usually just put one piece in it at a time. I’m impressed with it. I would recommend this stove to someone else without reservations. Like others have said before, the air valve doesn’t work smoothly but it isn’t a big deal. Having said all this good stuff, the one thing I didn’t like was when the door came loose with a fire inside the stove. It looks like the e-rings fell off the hinges and the bottom pin worked itself up and out leaving me holding the hot door by the handle and working to reinsert the bottom pin. I got it. Customer service didn’t seem too concerned. The exploded drawings don’t show what holds the pins in place nor do they show the cotter pins that keep the air tubes from sliding out.

This wood stove works great it will heat the whole house when it's above 10 degrees. I bought it for this small room that has no heat vents.

After reading several negative reviews on this stove. I was hesitant to order it. This is a good stove. Some reviews say it is wood hungry. It has a small fire box for small space. Some said it was hard to light. I have no issues lighting this stove with the door closed. Some reviews said the stove caused the room to become smoke filled. When loading it up with wood. Again I didn't experience that. I crack the door open and wait for a few seconds. The draft starts to draw and I load the stove. My wife and I are heating a 800 sf cabin in central Montana mountains with it. This stove is offered at the big box stores for hundreds more. It's a exhalent price for a exhalent stove. If you need to heat a small space. This is the stove for you.

I might change this rating next Spring (2023) after we've burned in this stove for a winter. I can't rate about installation or how well it burns yet because we haven't completely installed the stove yet, so we haven't burned in it yet. We are not new to wood burning. We heated our home 100% with wood, but we were using a regular, larger wood stove. Never used one of these new, EPA regulated stoves yet, but I'm open minded and ready to give it a chance and see if it will really burn more efficiently. So I intend to return and share my impressions about it. If it burns as efficiently as it claims I'll raise my rating. We always use 2-3 year old, well seasoned, dry hardwood (oak) so our wood use fits the requirements. The reason I felt compelled to write an early review is because of the size. I uploaded a picture of this compact Ashley wood stove with a 16 inch split piece of oak log in it. The log is not huge, but it's among our larger pieces of split wood (width wise). This may work fine, setting this one split log on a nice coal bed. I'm hoping it helps reduce the amount of wood we burn. But I wanted people to see what actually fits inside the stove. We're used to building a two or three log fire in the winters. This stove will not allow that. Only one average-to-large piece of split hardwood will fit. To fit multiple pieces you would need to split your wood much smaller than normal. That's a lot more work. But.. that might be a good thing? Maybe we'll burn less wood? We'll see. We only need to heat about 1200 square foot of space, so I'm optimistic this will be okay for us. But be aware that the wood box on this stove is quite small. If you already have large split pieces longer than 16 inches (18 would be a tight fit) you may have to go back through your wood pile and cut/split your wood to make it smaller so that it will fit inside this wood box. Just a heads up. The stove is nice looking, sturdy, and it will be easy to install. I wonder how long the (included) collar gasket lasts. Our old stove didn't need a gasket and never leaked smoke. Different design. I do sort of like the compact size of this stove. I hope it delivers for our heating needs. UPDATING on 2/1/2026 We've been burning in this woodstove since Winter 2023/24. The woodstove heats our house well. We burn wood during the days pretty much all winter, and let the furnace run at nights. We used to heat days and nights, but this woodstove is too small for 24/7 heating unless you want to get up several times in the night to add wood. We knew this would only be a daytime burner, so we were okay with that. The side/bottom pieces of wood can't be any longer than 8 inches at most. We usually aim for about 6 or 7 inch bottom pieces. Now that we know what sizes of wood work best for this wood stove, we split about 6 inch bottom pieces for our wood pile and 16 inch top (wide) pieces. We start the first fire of the day with 2 short bottom pieces and one 16 inch piece on top of them. Once we have good coals we can go to one 6 inch bottom piece propping up one 16 inch top piece. That set up works great and keeps our house warm when the temps get down into the low 20's and high teens. During the single digit temperatures of January 2026 we didn't burn wood. We just used the furnace. This wood stove isn't large enough for the super cold weather unless we want to spend all of our time tossing wood into it. Pros: This woods stove uses quite a bit less wood than our previous, larger stove did. The larger stove was overkill for our small house. Cons: -Understandably, a smaller wood stove needs loading more frequently than a larger one. So this stove is better suited for smaller homes/spaces. -The seal on the front door already needs to be replaced. It still works but constantly needs to be adjusted to prevent air leaks.. At least the the collar gasket seal is still holding up, so far. - The stove isn't deep, so when we open the door to put more wood in smoke puffs out pretty much every time. (We know to open and close the flue when opening the stove.) So we get ready and try not to open the door wide when we put another piece in, unless the fire is really hot and not at all smokey. For that reason, our stoves name is "Puff". I like the stove well enough, but will keep three stars. If we ever get a new stove I'll aim for a deeper one, with the stove pipe positioned further to the rear of the stove box.
