We prefer to use Culligan brand water filters. Compared to cheaper brands, they filter out more particles which then means you have to change them more frequently, but that just tells me it’s working. They are easy to install and work amazingly well. This is our top brand choice!

The filter is easy to install, and it does a good job filtering out contaminants, and things. It should last several months before I have to replace it.

Using this with Culligan HD-950A 1-Inch Outlet/Inlet Heavy Duty Sediment Water Filter Housing, Opaque (see my ***** star review on that product). I took off one star only because of the high price. I have some sand in my water system coming from my 365' deep well and this solves the problem. I change it about every 3-4 months or when I notice the pressure dropping in the faucets. Since all my pipes are copper I did put a grounding jumper across the filter for safety and to stop any audio hum in my sound system. 10/5/2015 UPDATE EDIT: Been using these for over 4 years now and they work well. Lately my deep well seems to be picking up more and more sediment and the outside sprinklers are getting the wire filters clogged up. Since my AC is a water to air unit a lot of water goes through to the 3 acres of water sprinklers so I'm adding a 50 size filter at the well since this filter only does the inside house water. Hopefully this will also extend the life of the inside house filter. I'm so pleased I raised the rating to 5 stars despite the price.

If 'Amazon.ca' was smart, they'd put this in their subscribe & save program (as Amazon.com DOES) - as I use about one of these each month :) As for a review of the filter itself - it works VERY Well, especially in areas with high levels of chlorine in the water :)

We tried this one as an experiment against our standard Culligan R50-BBSA filter and it did not work as well. To be fair this filter has a smaller pore size and is meant to do more than just filter particulates. Realistically it is what you would likely put in as a secondary filter after the R50-BBSA had filtered the water. Our water does not have a color or taste issue so part of the filter is not really needed. However the combination of a smaller pore size and smaller filtration area meant that it lasted less than a month (compared to 3 months for the R50-BBSA) before we saw flow restrictions. Just went back to look at this and since 2019 the price for this has increased by 143%, seems pretty drastic. Made my mind up to not buy again. Not sure how they can justify doubling the price in a couple months.
