No frills excellence
I don't have a lot of experience with a lot of trail cameras but do know this one performs very well for me. I swear by black flash technology as it doesn't spook deer like I've experienced with IR flash cameras. Camera is very easy on batteries, reliable, and takes quality pics. Highly recommend.

Both take very nice pictures. BUT the regular model gets MANY more ...
I bought 2 of the Covert cameras at different times -- one the regular model and one the black version. I have them focused on the same area (feeders used by deer) but from different directions. Both take very nice pictures. BUT the regular model gets MANY more pictures (like 4 or 5 times as many) than the black version. I assume the black version has a sensor that doesn't get triggered as well as the regular model. I have since removed the black version from use and it sits idle.

satisfactory performance
small size and good battery life. Day photos are not as clear as the browning dark ops hd, but price is better. Day photos are clear enough to read a tag on a vehicle less than 10 mph at 30 feet, also suitable day or night for game surveillance. Battery life is comparable to other covert models and bushnell + browning in the same class/size

Lots of Fun!
These are decent trail cams for the price. Nice pictures. Can read a license plate from 40 ft. I have 4 Covert cams. They might take some practice toget the shot you're looking for. They have a somewhat slow trigger speed. Meaning the moving object will sometimes have already passed out of view before the camera takes a shot, leaving you thinking the camera is false triggering when you review the pics. You can remedy this by aiming the camera down range a bit instead of a 90 to the trail. Another way is to back the camera farther away from the target zone to widen the view. You will get more pictures doing this.I bought these cameras to keep and eye on my rural property when not around. It is a lot of fun to check the pics.I also have one located on a tree in the greenbelt behind my house to see the goings on. If using it for security its best to mount it up high, at least 15 ft. You reduce the chances of it being noticed and taken. In my surveillance pics I noticed people don't look up!Be sure to not let a stray leaf or branch wave in the frame because you will get thousands of pics of nothing in just a few days!

Love covert cameras
Love covert cameras! Very reliable and simple to use. After using several other brands of cameras, I have come to trust and prefer the coverts.
