heavy cookbooks: how durable and a strong is the hinge? I plan to add nubs to help slippage but will this hinge last? Any longtime owners?

I don’t know how long it will last but I was very impressed with the strength. In my kitchen, it holds a cookbooks 24/7 without moving. It’s a lot sturdier than it looks.

Will it hold a cookbook that is closed or would that be too thick?

In my experience it will hold a closed book of an inch depth
