Nice product, working for my pool
I used for my pool refill, I purchased a different one (stainless one), but downwards water outlet caused waves, which generated many on/off action and sounds, even worse, the water hammer effect caused many noise and vibration. I purchased this one, it does not have the water hammer sounds as the outlet is to the side, and seems the value shutoff nicely. To adjust the wafer level, original I used 1/2 PVC Slide Repair Coupling, build an adjust clamp, too complicated, I ended up using multiple 1/2" riser, which is much simpler.Durability I didn't give 5, as it may not last long under the the Arizona Sun. :)

so far, so good
I use these for topping off the reservoir on a plant watering tank. I had a different float valve that the nutrient water corroded and ruined after about 6 weeks. I just replaced it with one of these, so I don't know if the same thing will happen. But so far it works well. Would be better if the float had a smaller diameter, but I was able to modify the tank to make it fit. I will report back if the valve fails too quickly.

Great Alternative for my application
I have a large stream/waterfall that has it water supplied via a large stock tank reservoir. Historically I have utilized a float valve like you use on an evaporative cooler. That approach had two challenges: 1) It had a hard time re-supplying water quick enough during initial start-up of the stream. The line in to old float valve was just a 1/8”. 2) The float valve tended to leak a little bit and after a few seasons needed to be replaced. Put in a new 1/2” float valve and issues have been resolved. Time will tell about durability. With this order you will have one in reserve. With the threaded connection it would be a quick change.

Doe snot work at low water pressure
I have water filtration system to use in my aquarium. First valve is connected to a barrel with filter media, including gravel and sand and it is connected to garden horse using some fittings. It works well, Water from this barrel goes to the storage barrel before use in the aquarium and the second valve is connected to this barrel. Since the water pressure is just gravity, second valve does not open at low pressure. When I remove the valve water flows to the second barrel, but does not when the valve is attached. Not great for low pressure.

Great for an automated chicken waterer
I got tired of refilling our little 6 gallon chicken waterer and bought these to hook up a 55 gallon supply drum to a drinking pan. This does the job perfectly, and I've got a spare valve if needed. These will easily pay for themselves in time saved.
