Going to attempt to make vanilla extract
Going to try making vanilla extract for the first time. Given how long it takes for a good extraction, kinda hard to evaluate right off the bat. First impression, without opening the package yet, it's very fragrant. Smells of strong vanilla. So guessing the concentration is great. Color is dark brown. Moisture looks nice and juicy. Should make some good stuff. One thing a bit hard to judge from the listing itself is size and weight of what ya get. I've included pics with a ruler aligned to bottom of beans in package and package on a kitchen scale. This gives a much better reference. With the weight, I figure I may try to do a larger 1.5x batch and half size 1x batch with what's left over. Price seems pretty awesome. Local HEB sells bottles of one bean for about $10. Bulk beans are $7 each. Yes. Each. So the price seems hard to beat when needing a couple ounces of beans. I have some 8 ounce bottles arriving today. Already have a 4 ounce from other hobbies. No liquor sales in Texas on Sundays, so will get some vodka, for sure tomorrow for main batch. Trying to decide on bourbon or rum to extract the smaller batch. Decisions. Decisions. Should be a fun project. Hope this review helps you with your vanilla bean purchasing decision. Take care.

Delivers in spades
I finally decided that it was time to make my own vanilla extract. I was no longer comfortable paying what the grocery store was charging. So, I bought a bottle of my husbandโs favorite โcheapโ whiskey, added half the package of beans to it, recapped the bottle and stuck it in the back of my cabinet. After 8 weeks, I pulled it out to take a look. The color of the liquid had significantly changed and the smell was amazing! What I Loved: Amazing fragrance: The instant you break the seal on the package you are hit with the sweet buttery vanilla aroma. Moist & Pliable pods: The beans are soft and packed with caviar โ exactly what you want when making extract. Balance of quality vs. value: Organic, non-GMO packaging, plump beans โ perfect for anyone serious about real vanilla. I used it in some pancake batter at the eight-week mark and it was just as good as the store bought. I decided to leave the beans in the bottle and just see how much better it can get. This means that for less than $40 usd I have just under 60 ounces if vanilla extract that will continue to get better over time. And I still have about 12 beans to use for other purposes. (Be sure to appropriately seal and store any left overs.) This means it cost me under $0.70 usd per ounce from organic Madagascar beans and whiskey from a manufacturer I trust. The cheapest I can currently find as of today for similar is $4.50 usd per ounce. Things to remember: Vanilla Beans are from a plant. No two beans are alike. The bean size and plumpness will vary. Be attentive to the grade of beans you purchase. These are Grade B beans, some will be slim or even split โ That is normal. Takeaways: Whether you are crafting homemade extract, making an infusion, vanilla sugar, or enhancing the flavor of a dish, these beans are stellar! Plus, they are organic, vacuum-sealed for freshness and โ dare I say โ add a little luxe to your pantry without breaking the bank. If you are looking for authentic, quality beans, these deliver in spades.

Great beans for making extracts
These are lovely Madagascar vanilla beans, the crรจme de la crรจme of vanilla beans and the most desired for extracts. With their lower moisture content than Grade A beans, they are perfect for extract since your extract liquid (in our case vodka) won't have to work as hard to pull the essence out. When I received the package, as soon as I opened the box, I could smell the beans aroma, even though they were vacuum packed. Once the package was opened I counted them out (26 as advertised) weighed them (1.6 ounces) and started the process of bottling them. Please note that these beans are drier than Grade A beans and as such, it is not recommended to split them to scrape the "caviar" (seeds) out. Instead, cut them in half before you place them in the bottle. I recommend Boston Round bottles in amber to help block the light so that the extract won't lose it's potency. If you want the caviar, then I recommend you spend a few bucks more to buy the Grade A beans. Once you have them in the bottle, cover them with your alcohol of choice. I used 80 proof vodka, but you can also use rum, whiskey or pure grain alcohol mixed with distilled water to 40 percent strength. The flavor of the final product will be different if you use rum or whiskey. After you have your bottles sealed, cap them and put them up in a cool dark place. It is recommended to let shake the bottles every 3-5 days until they are at the desired strength. Please note that this is NOT an instant gratification product. The longer they stay in the liquid, the better the flavor will be. I used Madagascar beans last spring for sale this fall with a one year aging process, and I have to admit that the wait was worth it. The aroma and flavor is so much better than commercial vanilla products. and much more economical as well per ounce. I will be ordering some more next month so that I can start a batch every month. I always sell out of the vanilla each year and with these beans, I expect to do so next year as well. 5 stars JPL

These Madagascar vanilla beans in my book are the best they're moist they're packaged perfectly I am using them to make Kahlua and they just have a wonderful flavor out of all the vanilla I've ever used this by far beats it all the price point is really good and they last so just make sure that you close out the package and put in a ziplock you know when if you haven't used them all but I'm very pleased with this product and I'll continue buying it

Great for making your own vanilla
I have made vanilla and also home-made Amaretto liqueur with these beans and the flavor is great. I gave this only 4 stars because I was a little disappointed with the size of the beans - they are quite small compared to others I have purchased.

Perfect!
First time buying vanilla beans, so I am not entirely sure what to expect, but these seemed perfect for my homemade vanilla extract. I got a 12 pack of Amber Bottles and had enough beans to fill all. There was not 26 beans in the package I received, there was 29- a nice surprise! They were moist, and smelled delicious! They aren't huge, though accurate size in description. Paring knife for scale in image.
