Do you have to treat before using?

We did not treat prior to using. We did oil the unenameled metal lip of the lid after washing to prevent corrosion of the exposed iron.

How to maintain this pot?

Hand wash with normal dish soap and cloth. I avoid using anything abrasive to protect the ceramic
