High-performance gaming router with antivirus software
Had this router for a few years. We used to have multiple google routers to cover the entire house, but this thing pretty much covers everything, so we got rid of the other routers.Pros:-Very fast. The 5GHz networks are great for gaming.-Long range. This router uses a technology called beam forming, which extends the range by listening for signals in a particular direction using its multiple antennas. It covers almost my entire house, which used to require 2 or 3 routers in a mesh network.-Multiple bands. It has two 5Ghz bands and one 2.4Ghz band. Choose 2.4Ghz band for longer range, or 5Ghz band for higher speed.-Very reliable. I've used this for 5+ years and had very few issues with it. I think I've had to restart it two or three times maybe over the years.-It has an easy-to-use mobile app that gives you detailed info about the devices on your network and the wifi connection performance of each device. If you have an active internet connection, you can also control your router remotely and run an internet connection test.-It detects and blocks malicious activity on the network. If a device on your network is infected with a virus, the router will prevent it from infecting other devices. You also get a notification in the mobile app when this happens, so you can remove or clean the infected device. The antivirus service on the router gets free periodic updates.Cons:-The 2.4Ghz band can be disrupted by other appliances in your house, like microwaves and cordless phones. This is true of all routers that have a 2.4Ghz band. You can avoid this by using the 5Ghz bands.-It doesn't have a lot of slots for wired ethernet connections. If that's something you need, this might not be a good pick for your setup.

Switched from Netgear
I bought this router to replace my Netgear Nighthawk R7000 (AC1900) router which I had just bought in the first quarter of this year (2022). My house is 3400+ sq. ft. and I also bought the Netgear AX8 extender to reach all parts of my house. Even with all of this, the Netgear would drop connection constantly. Buffering was horrible. Constant router restarts and bouncing back and forth between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz just to get a solid connection. Many times, the 5Ghz was unusable. You would connect and just freeze. I read several reviews online regarding these issues (and the notoriously bad Netgear TS, which I experienced first hand) and decided that it was time to try another router to see if this was going to be the fix. BOY WAS IT!!!!! The TP Link router works like a dream. No disconnects. No resets. No jumping from one band to another. No changing channels, just plain and simple WiFi with no user intervention. Now I'll let you know, I have 7 Ring cameras, 3 Apple TV devices, 1 Amazon Fire stick, 3 Cell phones, 1 iPad, 8 laptops (2 Macbooks), 1 Server running Windows Server 2022 with Hyper-V hosting 3 Windows Servers, 3 Windows 10 clients and 1 CentOS client, 1 Server running Ubuntu Server 20.04, 1 NAS hosting movies and music for streaming (SMB, DLNA), 1 WiFi attached Washer and Dryer, 1 HP Printer, 1 Wifi attached double oven, 2 SONOS speakers, 2 WiFi thermostats, and 1 WiFi garage door opener. The TP Link handles all of this with no issues. I have a fiber ISP which is giving me 1 Gbps service. Netgear speed tests on this same service was never higher than 400Mbps in either direction. TP Link router is doing 900 Down and 720 up. I could not be happier with the difference in these two products. I did not re-attach the extender and TP Link is still servicing everything I have. I have tried to be in Netgear's corner, but these results do not lie. Not to mention there are 8 1Gbps ethernet ports on the back of this device which makes connecting devices directly to it no problem. I have not tried the USB port as of yet but if it performs like the rest of this router has then I'm sure that I'll have no problems.

The range and speed are great
So I have had this router for 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it.Before this, I was using the xfinity XFi gateway (combo router and cable modem) and its horrible. Its supposed to be for the multigig 1.2gb speed and a direct connection using the 2.5gb eth port definitely works for that but everything else about it sucks. Poor wifi range and my wifi connections would only get 500mb speed if I was in the same room, much less outside the room. But with this router and just using the XFi in bridgemode (basically turning it into a normal cable modem), I am getting over 900mb wifi throughout my entire house. I even get good signal if I go into the building across the street.I see some people complain about the 2.4GHz band but honestly, I only use my smart light bulbs and wifi security cameras on that band and those don't show any problems. The support for link aggregated ports is a BIG plus. This helps me get my wired connection up to the max 1.2GB/s.And the router runs surprisingly cool, compared to the XFi gateway or even my older Asus router. There are only 2 cons I would give the router.I wish it had at least one 2.5GB/s speed port to go to a PC on my LAN. It only has the 2.5GB/s WAN port that connects to the cable modem,No OpenVPN client support. It does have VPN server support where IT can act like a VPN server but I want OpenVPN client support so I can connect to my NordVPN service. That was a HUGE plus for my old Asus router. We could easily flip the entire home internet to another country and watch France Netflix or Japan Netflix on all our TVs, with no issues. Can't do that with this TP-link router.
