Great Buy
Unless you have cracked and shelled a bushel of pecans one at a time you would probably not appreciate what this little machine can do. We have a pecan tree in our yard and we have always cracked pecans one at a time. There had to be an easier way so when I saw this little cracker online I decided to try it. We are absolutely pleased with the results. Cracking and shelling time has been cut by 50%. One of the best purchases we have made in a while. Very satisfied.

Buyer Beware!! Return costs are MORE than the product
This walnut cracker does not work at all! It will only spin the shell on top of the gear. The cost to ship to me when I ordered was only $8.99, but to RETURN…THE SELF SHIP COSTS IS BETWEEN $72.50-$123.50 to mail to Turkey!! BUYER BEWARE!! We did not return obviously. I very rarely write a bad review, but this item forced me to.

Softer seeds might just break into pieces
Got this to break lotus seed shells. It is not as easy to use if you are trying not to crush the whole seed / nuts.Additionally, you have to separate your seeds / nuts by sizes and then run them through to make sure it does not cut it too deep - causing everything to come out in broken pieces instead of a “whole” nut.Its almost safer to do it 2-3 seeds/nuts at a time (SLOW) instead of doing it in bulk if you do not want everything to come out in broken pieces.

Great concept, poor execution
The basic design of this nut cracker is pretty good. It's easy to use, cracks nuts pretty easily, and is very versatile. But there are lots of problems. The actual grinding element is made out of aluminum, which is much too soft, especially for harder nuts like walnut. Ours was noticeably dented and damaged after cracking only two walnuts. The way the device is welded together looks pretty cheap. It's hard to imagine it being used for more than a few years without falling apart. The paint comes off easily and was already scuffed when it was delivered. There is a screw which adjusts the size of the nut the cracker can process, but there's no washer or wingnut to prevent the screw from shifting while you crank the handle. I can probably fix this with a trip to the hardware store but it's kind of sad that I have to -- just a little bit of thought into the design would have solved this problem.I paid around $64 for this thing, which seems overpriced for how flimsy the construction is. It's a very nice and functional design, but needs to be made with better materials and construction.

Works great!
This nutcracker works great! Made cracking the pecans quick and easy! Just have to adjust it accordingly to the size of nuts. Highly recommend!

Cheap
Wasn’t heavy duty steal. Cheap wheel inside. Only good for decoration somewhere.

Amazing kitchen tool!
The media could not be loaded. We got our nutcracker the other day and wow! I shelled in 30 mins what usually takes me three hours. I am so happy to have found it. I used it for pecans, black walnuts & macadamias and it helped tremendously. Also really liked the portability feature as well. Not to mention it comes in this gorgeous gift box which my wife snatched out of my hands for our car-keys in the foyer. We had a lot of fun figuring out how to adjust the cracker for different sized nuts. The trick is to be methodical when sorting the nuts into different sizes.

Can't use for intended purpose
The original purpose was to shell pistachios for a fish recipe but after running the first nuts through I noticed little pieces of shell mixed with the meat and what a pain separating them, (impossible), it would have been easier to shell them by hand. Instead of sending the nut cracker back I'm using it to crush egg shells before running them through the flourmill to add calcium to the tomatoes and peppers, stopping blossom rot, actually this machine breaks up egg shells really well, beats using a hammer. I'll buy shelled pistachios from now on, it's worth the time saved, 2 cups of crushed nuts is a lot to shell for one recipe. Haven't tried walnuts but I'm sceptical of how it will work with them, doubtful, probably same problem.
