Q: How well does this item work compared to a standard clay bar?

It works fairly well. If you’re like me I clay once a year so I never really have a build up. If you only clay once every few year I would use the standard bar.

Just use soapy water for the lubricant and the cleaner.

Q: Can I use this with Mequiars gold car wash with this?

My answer would be yes, using the car wash as a lubricant and not letting anything dry on the car, always keep the car wet and sudsy
