I bought this for my grandson who loves it. There seems to be very little it does not deal with related to fishing, which will keep him happy for hours. Typical of DK - a well-produced, comprehensive text.

Lovely book for a youngster interested in learning the basics of fishing, plenty of pictures and explanations

I did enjoy this book it’s well laid out and illustrated and gives a good high level overview of various fishing types Downside would be it’s hard to recommend as a book for anything in particular while interesting to read there’s not enough on any one type of fishing - and a couple of fishing types are maybe over represented eg the coverage of bass surf fishing in Ireland Recommended overall to get a broad sense of fishing around the work and especially for knowledge hungry kids

A reliable and a indepth manual that covers all topics from starting to the hardened anglers

Lots of great pictures , some useful information about technics, places to go and fish , I just felt that book lacked info about tackle maintenence, how to clean and reel when dropped in mud or water, not enough info on tying rigs , making your own boiles and ground bait . What to when your rod ferrels need mending , replacing and eye on your rod

Great updated book. Nevertheless , it should include other techniques like Tenkara

The first sentence in the forward is “Never in a million years will I be able to fully explain why fishing has capture me so totally.” That’s two of us. I like this book already. Keep in mind he stated that after writing a book about fishing. When I was 5, I was so fascinated with fishing I started staying on the dock as long as I was allowed to (at a place called Shortie’s in Michigan). The first time I skipped school (last day, sixth grade), guess where I went. After about an hour of fishing, my Mom appears and says “Big surprise. How did I know you’d be here?” When I was 10 (1970) I purchased an open-face reel for $100 at Dunham’s with money I earned from a paper route. The sales person asked for my home phone number and called my parents because he didn’t believe it was on the up-and-up: “What kind of 10 year old spends $100 on a fishing real?” So believe me what I say that basically, if you appreciate fishing you’ll appreciate this book. I was having so much fun when fishing, I had no idea about most of the information in this book. All I need is a stick, string and a hook. I’m good to go. Now that I’ve got this book, I’ve got important things to do/learn. I’m like a kid in a candy store discovering one cool thing after another when reading this book. It’s like staring with pan fishing and then trying fly fishing, it’s a whole new world. The Complete Fishing Manual does a great job as your guide to discovering different types and essential skills. Informative and fun, all the way from occasional dabblers to seasoned professionals, there’s something for every level of experience in this book.
