AP Products 013-242 Exit Window Latch, White , Black

I'm giving this product 5 stars to offset some of the poor reviews that almost had me doing a cheesy workaround instead of fixing my camper properly.Is the product cheaply made and flimsy? Yes.Is it EXACTLY as cheaply made and flimsy as the one that came with my camper? Also yes.I already owned a drill and rivet setting tool, so that was no problem. Those tools are inexpensive compared to the hourly rate at the RV repair shop.The product is also dirt cheap. I don't expect to get a high quality 1/8" thick stainless steel hinge and handle for less than the price of a decent pizza.I easily drilled out the old aluminum rivets, discarded the broken piece, and installed the new piece in its place. If the red part had been installed upside down that would have been inconvenient, but easy to solve. Mine was correct though.To the people for whom it broke the first time they closed the window after installing; I am guessing that the original one broke for the same reason, and perhaps the underlying issue may have needed to be resolved before replacing and attempting to use the handle. There is no way a properly installed and working window could create enough stress to rip the admittedly thin metal of this handle.Whenever I work on stuff I remind myself that if I have to force it, then something else is wrong.Anyway, my handle is replaced with no more than 10 minutes of easy work, and it is once again "correct". Being an emergency exit window, that is important.

Part came in 2 days. Easy install with rivet tool. Window seals up tight. Jayco dealer sold me the wrong part, so I was very happy this latch from AP Products was a fit for my 2017 Jayco 264 BHW and at 1/5 the cost. The part is 3 sections attached together, the middle section on this model is shorter than the others I looked at. The picture shows the wrong part on the left and the part I replaced on the right (the new part is already installed so no pic of that). A big clue for me was that this model came with Rivits and the others I looked at had screws and the part I was replacing has rivits. Before you install make sure the length of the center section matches the one you are replacing or the window will not close properly.

Fits and works perfectly in our JayCo RV.I used small bolts to install it since I did not have a pop rivet gun.Much better price than local RV stores. Saved me a ton of dollars.Equal quality to OEM piece but that still means it is of low quality material and manufacture.

Just need a pop riveter. Rivets are supplied. Easy install.

It appears to be the exact same one that was on my trailer originally. While overall the design of the original is a little flimsy, this one is no worse than the one that has been on my trailer for 5 years. That one failed when a large piece of truck tire in the roadway was thrown up by a car and hit the window. It bent the window frame and broke the window latch.

For one, this is NOT a universal fit. You can see in the pics the part that's too short. Plus the latch itself is upside down if you want to install it right. Lastly, we live in an area with frequent high winds. This thing is so cheap and flimsy I doubt it would withstand the first high winds.

This is easy to install if you own, and know how to use, a pop-rivet tool! Also, you must check the description to know if it's the right part for YOUR window. I got it wrong the 1st time, and that was MY FAULT. The others reviews that complain about this part, are not giving their whole story... This part is too simple to "not fit" or " seems upside down". Do your homework and you will be happy with the results.

My existing latch was badly corroded. This product was slightly shorter so when mounted, when the window was closed it didn’t allow me rotate it 90 deg to lock it in place. Not only that the part that mounts to the window frame was assembled upside down, so I had to carefully drill out the pin attaching it to the arm, rotate it 180 deg and replace the pin with a split pin. Finally, I had to bend the two mounting flanges flat to make it long enough to close and lock. I used stainless nuts and bolts rather than rivets.It fits perfectly after a lot of head scratching!

Almost the same as my OEM one... this was just a bit too short so I had to improvise and install it the way I needed to make it fit. Basically, it was too short. I Macgyver’d it.

Seems to be of good quality, but like some others I found I had to lengthen the bar as it was too short for my trailer window. No option to buy a longer one though...
