Dark Walnut, 1-Gallon

Great stain been hearing it fades quickly but still looks great I sanded down my garage door and stained it with this make sure your read manufacturers instructions but color turned out better then I thought it would & they specify to recoat 1-2 years to keep it looking mint.

Worked Great! The picture I posted is still drying/curing but worked great for this small project. Happy with the results, and my girlfriend loves it

This stain is the real deal, my shed was in desperate need of stain, this did the job. I’m going to second coat it just because of how long I waited to do it.

Easy to use and looks great. I used it to seal and stain my outdoor stairs and it looks nice. Also used it for a wire reel that I am making into an outdoor table.

I have no problem so far with the quality of the applied product. However they seem to have either a labeling problem with product color or a problem with product production to produce desired color. Last year, I bought 2 5 gallon buckets labeled "Dark Walnut". At the time I thought it was far redder than the samples I had tested (bought and tested their color samples). I tested on both treated pine and cedar fence slats from fence company. Fence is treated pine posts and rails, pickets cedar. Went ahead and used what received. A year later it still looks redder. I am guessing I received Mahogany. (Both 5 gallon buckets had same color.) Unfortunately, the lumber I ordered to make 3 center sections of lattice came in too late to finish last summer. Also, am building a bench into fence. Only partially finished last summer. Stored leftover stain, originally purchased, inside over winter. Was not usable this summer, gooey sludge; maker said "beyond shelf life" (year-old approximately 2.5 gallons left over.) So this new order was to finish up project. Both cans labeled Dark Walnut. Definitely a different color, not a dye lot variation. Treated 2x 4's do look like Dark Walnut. Treated pine 1 x 6's look substantially lighter and different color. 2 coats. Pictures fence completed and stained last summer. 2nd photo stained 1x6's with this purchase against fence. Stopped work til can get a can of Mahogany. Moisture content <12% when pre-stained fence lumber. Have not opened 2nd gallon received this year. All products thoroughly mixed before use.

This stain and sealant was really very easy to use. I stained a fir deck/stairs by myself in a short period of time. PROS: -The sealer is AMAZING. Within two days of application it rained, and the water beaded up and stayed beaded up for several hours until the sun came up. -Easy and thin to apply. It really is goof proof. -Even coverage -Transparent enough that you still see the wood grain (that was our biggest requirement) -Doesn’t stain skin! -1-gallon goes a LONG way CONS: -Dark Walnut doesn’t match the color swatch in the least. It’s a LOT more red, and not nearly as dark. After two applications it looks exactly like the “Pecan” color. All in all, I love this for the sealant purpose- it’s much better than the Thompson’s waterproof seal we have used on previous decks. I just wish the dark walnut was as advertised- true brown, darker, with no red. Update: I have since used the same gallon on another set of stairs/garden boxes with more than 2/3 the original gallon left. The last picture is the best project with it. I still like it, but the deck I stained one year ago definitely needs restaining this year. Any flat surfaces are worn off from foot traffic/rain/etc. And the red tone of it still bugs me. But still a solid 4 stars.
