Well made, looks nice as a prop. Can stand up on its own due to stuffing inside. My melon is 7 3/8 and it doesn’t fit unless I really tug it down. It’s not bad though and I’ll definitely keep this one for display.

Love, love , love this! It was perfect for my Harry Potter christmas tree. We bought a real 7.5 foot tree and it fit perfect! Such great detail and quality! The face of the sorting hat is spot on!

I saw a DIY sorting hat, but the time needed to make it seems a bit extensive compared to the price of this one - I'd rather pay the $20 for convenience Lol The only thing I'm slightly disappointed in is that the mouth part seems a tad small. In the DIY video, she darkened the eyes, mouth & some creases (with paint? I'm not sure), so I might try that with a dark brown eye shadow or something to make those parts more prominent. Also, because it ships flat, the cone part of the hat needs to be reshaped & it tends to want to revert to the flat shipping shape. It's not too bad though. Might take a thick strip of cardboard & bend into a circle to stick inside to help fix the shape.

I really like this sorting hat, but it's definitely not adult sized. It sits on top of my head, but definitely doesn't fit the way it should. With a breeze or a wobble of the head, it falls off. But other than that, this is a great buy.The face isn't super well defined, but it's definitely recognizable. If anything more had been done to make the face stand out, I imagine it would seem a lot less realistic as a hat. It flops over, but stuffing it with tissue or socks is enough to fix that. The material used for the brim of the hat is rather thin, but there is a wire sewn into the outside edge that helps it maintain its shape (which allows you to get just the look you're going for). There's a pocket so you can move the mouth, but it's tiny and not that effective.Ultimately, I'm sad that this doesn't fit well, but it's going to spend the vast majority of its time on a shelf next to the rest of my Harry Potter merch, so I'm not that concerned. If you want this as a collectible or for a young child, this is perfect. If you're an adult and would like to wear this for cosplay or something like that, you may need to figure something out using clips and such to make this work.Regardless of the fit, I think this is a great product for the price (twenty five dollars). I'm happy with this purchase.

It's very well made, it's huge and fits adults head (my husband's and mine) and there is a velcro to adjust so fits my 8yo daughter too. Very well made nice quality and you can kind of shape it like you want

I wanted to revise my original review but could not find it. My original concern was the product was shipped but it didn't arrive when it should have and there was one day left prior to Xmas. Turns out the USPS was the weak link and I had to pick up the hat at the post office. (poor delivery policy in my opinion, but this is not a usps review)The Sorting Hat is awesome and my sister (a major HP fan) loved it. The hat is even a bit more authentic looking than I expected. Sis and I are happy with the Hat, product description was accurate, price was right, and I'd feel comfortable ordering from Costume Hub again, Especially after I received a well worded email reminding me of this loose end. Although I stated I did not know why the product was late, I do apologize for not updating my review much earlier.

I ordered this sorting hat for a child's birthday party. I didn't expect much for the price and was very surprised when it arrived. It was beautifully made The material was medium weight that felt like suede and had wire that ran through it so that it could be pulled up taller or scrunched down more for effect. It also had a very wide brim and a tie in the back that hung down and flaps on the side. Very realistic in its appearance. My niece was delighted. What was an added bonus is that inside the brim there was a tab with Velcro on two sides so that if you wanted to adjust the hat to fit a smaller head you could. This was just perfect. I can't believe the quality of this product for the price. I highly recommend it.
