Do you have to mount before putting on doorway or can you use without mounting it ?

No you have to mount it which pissed me off.. 1000 little pieces and it was wider than the door... just too much going on.

Will this actually support 440 pounds, as is stated?

The item itself yes if you place it somewhere that will support that weight. Most doorframes have a max weight limit of 300 I’ve read

All my door frames have a space of 92cm / 36.22in, so I need a bar that is about 100cm or wider. Anyone know the width this bar fits?

Look at the specs for the bar, you should be able to fit this with a 36 inch width.
