Intellitouch PT40 rechargeable tuner
The unit is being used on an electric bass. I have not tried on an any guitars as of yet.The Good: The major advantage is that I can tune between songs if necessary. The off/on switch helps conserve battery life. I have used the unit for about a month and so far have not had to recharge it. This includes two weekly band practices and a couple of gigs. The color change from red to green when you are in tune is really easy to see in the often poorly lit bars we play. The Not so Good: At least for bass, it does not work as well as expected on an open low E. I find that a harmonic tone works more quickly. Additionally, the unit does appear to search for the actual note played in general more than I would have expected. This makes tuning slower than expected. Conclusion: I have a 25 year old Korg Chromatic tuner and the old beast is still a lot quicker to use than the Intellitouch PT40. I will continue to use the old Korg as my main tuner for setting intonation and when being tethered to a tuner is not an issue. However, the head stock tuner is quite useful for on stage applications. I will continue to use it on stage at least for now. As to any durability issues, I have not had the unit long enough to tell.I have now had the unit for several months. I did forget to pay attention to the battery life indicator and it did run down during a gig. This is my fault and not an issue with the tuner. The low "E" issue is a bit annoying but I use this tuner exclusively for gigs (and live full band practices) anyway since it is really convenient. As stated earlier, however this unit is not particularly useful for setting intonation. I might buy another one when this one inevitably breaks (made in China stuff usually has a shorter life span than things used to when they were made in either the US or Japan). I would however look around to see what is out there before I do.

Clamp broke in under 90 days. Lifetime warranty replaced it.
Update to original review (rating raised to 3 stars from 1 star). After some effort, I managed to locate the manufacturer and contacted them directly via phone. They honored the lifetime warranty and sent a replacement clamp via snail mail, which arrived in a week - unlike Amazon, they did not require me to pay shipping, so my only cost was the hassle & wait time. I am not confident this replacement clamp will last long because of the design and the material it is made of, however I believe the manufacturer will stand behind the warranty, based on the easy interaction I had once I found their contact information.Original review:The clamp broke at the hinge in less than 3 months and the unit is no longer usable. The hinge is made of extremely thin, brittle plastic less than 1mm thick, which simply crumbled in two places. The Amazon description says "Lifetime Warranty" but there is no information on who to contact to fulfill the warranty. After 45 minutes on the phone with Amazon customer service (language difficulties with an overseas agent), I was finally advised Amazon would take it back - initially they said it was past the return period; however I have to pay shipping to return the defective item, and they could not provide the manufacturer's contact data for warranty terms. I paid top dollar to obtain a good tuner that would not have this kind of problem, but its construction is poorer than low end tuners. My prior tuner still sells for less than half the price of this model and the clamp lasted many years.

Accurate tuner, easy to use, RECHARGEABLE!!
This tuner is spot on! The swivel lets you tailor the position to where YOU want it. I like mine on the back side of the neck so it doesn't stand out while performing. The color change from red to green makes it a breeze to tune quickly. Folks, it's RECHARGEABLE!! Plug it into your USB port and...No more hunting for itty bitty watch batteries! The charge lasts for a pretty long time. I practice every day and perform weekly. It was a month before it died on me (gotta learn to keep a closer eye on the charge indicator). Some people might complain about how the swivel is flimsy but if know how to take care of your equipment that should be a problem. Ya just gotta remember to pull it off the headstock before putting your guitar away. This purchase was well worth it!! I'd order another one in a heartbeat if something happened to my current one.

Intellitouch PT40
Wanted to try a rechargeable tuner since I dislike keeping up with batteries. Turned it on when I got it and it was fully charged. Used it about 12 times already and going strong. A bit sensitive when tuning but I like that. I like I'm able to drop my tuning with ease. I like the display very large and easy to read. I like the color display to show when you get it correct. Overall very happy with my purchase. Shipped quickly.

Brilliant! Only 4 stars since the charge might last ...
After using innumerable button cells on guitar tuners over the years, I was thrilled to find that Intellitouch now makes the same stable tuner in the small package available as a USB rechargeable product. Brilliant! Only 4 stars since the charge might last longer than it does. None the less, if you find it at the introduction price, you actually save money over the price of the battery unit in relatively short order.

Accurate and no batteries to replace
I was able to try the Intellitouch PT40 before I bought it at a music festival. I wanted to see how quickly it displayed the pitch adjustments on the notes when tuning. When it has a decent charge on it, the PT40 appears to do this faster than my Tune Tech TT-10. When it starts to get sluggish I know it's time to recharge, a quick process and no little screws to undo and possibly loose with a battery replacement like my other tuners. I still love and use the Tune Tech but leave it at home unless I've recently replaced a battery in it.I recently bought another for a friend who had used it and liked the no battery idea.
