Beat led light for planted aquarium
It is the best led light for planted aquarium .if you have mid or high tech aquarium and you want high kelvin professional lighting. This light is thr best option for that . I started a new aquarium and I didn't want to get any light. I found many options that too way expensive and the light given was not as I was seeing in videos of this light. So I ordered the light and the result was amazing . I first didn't know it does not have hanging kit so I placed it on the aquarium then I ordered the kit and it very easy to install only few minutes . I faced some difficulties in turning on and off the light but I checked on fluval YouTube and the explanation was so easy .My panted grown in very fast time less than 2 weeks . Thanks to the light it is part of that for sure joining the forces of other products

For Plant Lovers Only
I started with the light and hood that came with my 60g that I bought a pest smart. It's 48 inches long. I replaced those lights with a power glow something that had a lot of blue in it and made the fish look really good. But then I got into plants and it wasn't enough watts and not enough spectrum for plants. So I bought the 48 inch fluval 2.0. First of all, running without a hood for me personally is really great. The only thing I missed about my hood was it was very easy to just place my 1/4 inch syphon hose in the aquarium and let the hood lid hold it in place so I didn't have to just stand there (always,ALWAYS set a timer.) I fixed that by simply cutting 24 inches (which is the height of my aquarium) of 3/4 inch pvc pipe and stuck it in the back corner deep down in the gravel all the way to the bottom and used some suction cup clips and now all have to do is simply stick the 1/4 in syphon hose into the 3/4 inch pipe and it draws water from beneath the gravel and holds the syphon hose in perfect place. So anyway, getting back to no hood, it's strictly a personal choice, but yes, you don't need a hood unless you keep jumping fish like carp, but running without one increases evaporation quite a bit so you may want to consider that when adding new water. I try to add enough distilled water to match just what has evaporated or I get too much lime build up. As a plant man it was really nice running with noi hood when I was constantly reaching in and changing things. Now, about the light, when I turned it on it was horrible. It made my nice blue water all yellow and my plants were reflecting the light and it was awful looking. But I could see it was a better light for the plants so I played with the dimmer switch and got it down to where it was good for the plants but I could still tolerate it. In about 24 hours my nice balance aged aqarium turned into green pea algae soup. I coouldn't even see the back of the aquarium. And it wouldn't clear up. So I did the usual things and found out that for me with my aintenece and bio load I can only run this light at the lowest setting, which is fine for me. I'm looking for that underwater pond look for my goldfish. So Now on the lowest setting I can run for 10 to 12 hours a day and my plants are finally thriving and the fish look great. But this light is strictly for plant lovers. The quality of the physical light is superb and yes it accidently got tested and it is waterproof even with water running directly on top of it for an hour (and not a drop spilled on the floor, it just ran down the top of the light until it went into the aqarium.) You just set it on top wherever you want it. I set mine back as far as it will go without interfering with the filters. I do that so it grows algae on the back glass which is what I want and very little on the front glass. I gave it 4 stas because the dimmer is about worthless for ramping. You have to be really quick and stop just right, it only takes a second to go from all the way high to all the way low. And it only goes one way, all the way down and then all the way up. You can't if you get it to low just bump it back up a little, you have to go all the way down and then back up. It does have a memory however so if you power it down like I do or even if you use the switch on the light it will come back on where you had it set when you turned it off.Very light and totally adjustable length wise. Very good high quality light.

Amazing and powerful!!!
I'll start off by stating that I'm a plant guy. I like fish but I love plants. Years ago I started with t8, stepped it up to to t5 then t5 ho. I was quite impressed with the t5 ho fixtures. But I hated having to find then order bulbs and they were expensive. I tried marineland led fixtures and was very disappointed. A friend introduced me to this led lamp. I was skeptical, not anymore!!! This lamp is super bright, it's been a month and my plants are growing as fast as under t5 ho lamps, with a fraction of the heat and electricity. Added feature of being dimmable and with the beautiful blacklist nightlight. I'm sold. Good price!!!

When it works it seems to do pretty well for my planted tank
Pros: Very bright. When it works it seems to do pretty well for my planted tank.Cons: The on/off switch is garbage. So much so that Fluval had to make a video telling people how to use the switch. Unfortunately it's still garbage. Some times it works and turns the light on and cycles through the settings. Other times though it just does whatever the heck if feels like. Like most people, I'm using this with a timer because I don't want to have to mess with it every single day. The problem is that sometimes when the light comes on it won't come back on to the correct setting. Normally the light just won't be at the proper brightness and I'll have to mess with the dimmer but twice now the light has come on and been stuck on the moonlight setting. It's currently stuck in the moonlight setting now and no amount of messing with the switch will change it. I've tried every finger after every position. I've washed my hands to make sure that wasn't a problem. I've unplugged it and let it sit for an hour and still no luck. Right now I consider the light broken because I didn't pay nearly $200 for a night light.-EDIT- Light is complete garbage. Has now completely failed in less than 6 months. Power getting to the light but will not turn on at all.

Not good
Very dim - Have to use it with another light. When I turn off my second light source, this light strip just looks like a twilight affect for the aquarium. It's that dim.

VERY FRUSTRATING!
This is a good lamp but unless you want to spend $71+ on a cell phone ramp dimer timer, there is no compatible ramp dimer timeravailable for this lamp. The Fluval timer sold here on Amazon is not compatible (plugs does not match) and the Current ramptimer is not compatible for the same reason. So like the other reviews say, you have to manually operate the switch on the lampto get whatever use of the various light shades and levels you want. Whose going to do that? VERY FRUSTRATING!

Amazing!
These light a amazing! I needed to get rid of all of my old florescent light bulbs. My florescents lit up my tank but my plants looked sad. I made the full switch to led and won't go back! After a couple weeks with these led lights on my tanks and all of my plants are coming back!!! They fit my aquariums perfectly and work great with timers.

Top Beleuchtung
