Amazing Shower Head Filter System NSF 177 and 372 Certified, Minor Leaks with Easy Solutions
The Aqua youth 2.0 Carbon Shower Head Filter System is simply put, amazing. The water actually feels better but I cannot put my finger on it, not sure if placebo but I noticed that the redness on my back and chest doesn't appear anymore after using this filter unlike when I had no filter. The filter system looks pretty sleek and when I sent photos to my friends they said it looked super nice, high quality and fancy, of which I agree with them! Very clean looking system. It's also nice knowing it id is nsf 177 and 372 certified, of which was my main interest when purchasing a shower head filter (this should be a set standard at this rate). Now a couple things to address. I noticed that when I turn off the shower head, most of the water stays in the filtration system and does not flush out completely, I am not sure if that's how the item is made to work but is a little odd. However, when you turn the shower back on I assume it just cycles the water out. Not sure if this affects the life cycle of the filter and will require earlier replacement. Leakage. Yes, it did leak when I first installed it. I followed their directions to rap the included teflon tape 2-3 times, of which I believe is not enough. Once I wrapped the shower threads 5-6 times around, then I was able to prevent the minor leak. Also, it does leak for me directly from the plastic filter cover when it's screwed on. What I did was simply wrap the threading on the plastic filter cover 5-6 times and screwed it back on, of which completely fixed the leak issue. This is not stated in the instructions, however, a little common sense takes you a long way. Just how you use Teflon on the piping threads, just go the extra mile (just a couple additional minutes), to wrap EVERY THREAD you see. This will most likely address all leakage issues you may face. Overall, loving this product and would recommend it to everybody!

Great purchase!
This filter was super easy to install if one is the least bit mechanically inclined. It took me a couple minutes to remove my shower head, install the filter body, flush It, and reattach my shower head. This filter did drop my shower head about 3" which affected me a little bit. I do have to bend down a touch when I am washing my hair. For some people, that might be a big deal, but I do not mind for the perceived benefit. My water is from a municipal source. My water has a bit of iron and lime scale in it. I will be able to tell if if it is keeping some of that stuff out of my shower water. I did shower with this once. The water did have a softer feel than normal, and my shower literally did feel more refreshing than normal. I do not have a chlorine tester or other fancy water testing device, and I can only go by how things feel. However, I will be able to check for iron staining after using it for awhile as the filter claims to reduce iron. I also read a lot of reviews from people who have well water that installed this filter and complained about having no filter life. I am guessing they need a pretty large whole house filter to block a lot of impurities in their water. Edit: I did buy a water testing kit. I tested for a few things. Anyway, this filter did remove chlorine. I also want to state that I did test warm shower temperature water as I know that some filters cannot filter out chemicals in warm or hot water. Edit 2: I used my filter for about 7 months. I live alone and typically shower about twice a day. I decided to swap out my filter before it "went bad". It still seemed like it was filtering chlorine, but I did not want to chance it. Obviously, someone with worse water quality might have a shorter filter life. I also installed a new shower head when I installed this filter. I went with a 1.5 gpm model to help slow the water down a touch and to help improve filtering. My shower head never gummed up, since I installed this, with lime scale which is a first for me as my area has ridiculously hard water. Also, there have been no iron stains in my shower since I installed this. Yes, it does pull that stuff out of the water. Edit 3: I am still happy with this system and have used it for about 4 few years without problems. I alleviated my shower height issue by installing a goose neck shower pipe which raised my showerhead several inches. I wish I would have done that years ago. Lastly, I have seen people complaining the filter does not remove any chlorine from their water. You might want to check if your water system uses chloramjnes before getting mad because this filter alone won't remove chloramines.

More effective than other, smaller filters
Purchased this filter barring other reviews, I needed to replace another shower filter that needs to frequent replacing. I moved to a horrendous complex with water that is so chlorinated that it feels like I'm bathing in Clorox! Other shower filters have worked, but after a month or so they need replacement as I can smell the chlorine in the water. So, I decided to buy this filter system: at first, like many others, it leaked quite profusely, where the filter connects to the downspout as well as the plastic case. After fiddling with this on and off for few months, adding more tape to the downspout at the inlet into the filter, all leaking has ceased. Definitely effective in removing chlorine, no chlorine smell. The shower head is one I purchased from Amazon, and because of using filters, no clogging. I actually use the showehead to bathe as I like to sit and relax while cleaning myself. I'm confident that the water is safe to bathe. I took one star off as I tried to contact the seller but never received a response, mostly over the issues of leaking, which I finally resolved. I also use the showehead to spray down the tub, using the shower filter. Water does accumulate in the plastic housing, so I usually unscrew and empty the water. No other major problems, installing was easy. Do, for now, I'm quite satisfied. Update; Just replaced filter as I could smell chlorine while bathing. Just received the new filter, let water run for two minutes as the water is dark with carbon from the filter. Will say that no more chlorine smell. About water softness, that's debatable. All I'm concerned about is chlorine, which is a toxic cancer causing chemical, and for now it has been eliminated.

BEST FILTER
I had an aquabliss filter for about 2 years but having to remove the entire shower structure to swap the filter was getting old which led to us just not replacing the filter and ending up with hard water again in a few months. My skin and hair were getting super dry and it was winter time so I knew I needed a solution. I'm in Raleigh NC and while our water is not the worst, you can smell, taste, and feel the hardness of the water. Def not the kind you can "drink from the tap". Came across this filter and while it is less visually appealing than the aquabliss, its easy filter swap won me over. Installation was super easy and you can install it whichever direction you prefer, filter to the left right or under the shower. Immediately I could tell a huge difference. The water no longer had a smell, I even tasted it (dont judge) and it had NO taste, it was like drinking spring water. My hair and skin immediately got softer and the oil returned to my face (no more spending a small fortune on moisturizing 3x a day). This thing is a miracle and I can say works BETTER than the aquabliss even though it is quite a bit uglier. Best of all, that white mineral stuff that builds up on the shower head and starts clogging the individual nozzles so you end up with water squirting in all directions is no longer happening (I was still getting some with the aquabliss). Getting one for all the showers in my house & for my parents.

Very pleased so far - easy install, works perfectly
UPDATE - look at the filter after 6 months! I know I have hard water... but this looks like brown crud! My water turns everything a pinkish brown tint. This makes it seem like my water is even worse. Now i feel i need a whole house filter... i am cooking and drinking this stuff?! So thankful for this filter!! ORIGINAL REVIEW I tried one of those handheld showerhead filters a few years back. I loved the difference the filter made but the water pressure was too much compared to my low GPM showerhead and I had to return it. I had been looking for a filter that would do something similar but allow me to use my own showerhead. Enter this AquaYouth filter! INSTALLATION- super easy. You might need a wrench to make sure you can tighten a little more than by hand, but other than that you shouldn't need any tools. Initially it did leak a little bit after install but it just needed an extra tightening, and no more leaking! PERFORMANCE- it doesn't seem to have any affect on water pressure. Initially it is lower while the filter housing is filling with water but then it seems to go back to normal. My public water is extremely hard.. it is full of chlorine and other metals I don't even know. My water eventually turns everything a sort of pink color.. it isn't rust colored, but lighter and more pink. When I was in Florida last year I noticed that the water literally FELT different. I then wondered if the water I shower in is causing a lot of my hair and skin dryness. So far, I notice less tightness in my skin after showering. I haven't noticed anything significant in my hair yet, but will report back. Excited to see what the filter looks like after a few months!

Filter Cartridge Housing Leaks
First you should take note of this warning on the product page below the description: "Frequently returned item Check the product details and customer reviews to learn more about this item." Second, I couldn't find a shower filter of ANY type that didn't have a review about the cartridge leaking. I chose this one because it is easiest to change the cartridge without having to disassemble the shower head. The design looks like a good design, but it is built with chrome plated plastic. The chromed housing that the filter connects to would maybe work better if it were made from metal and had a decent O-ring. As it is, the leak isn't all that much, but for the money ($60) it should not leak at all. The other connections from the supply pipe to the shower head is okay, but wrap the teflon tape around the threads more than the instructions say. The threads are a rather loose fit unless you do this. Admittedly those connections are not leaking. And the water pressure has dropped a bit. Not enough to ruin your shower, but it is detectable. I purchased this activated charcoal filter only, to help eliminate the perceived chlorine in the municipal water supply. All the other shower filters advertise 8 to 15 layered filter medium inside, and some claim to reduce hard water (calcium carbonate). These claims are false, and the other multiple layers are not necessary unless maybe you are drawing water from a well. The city water supplied to your house is already filtered and treated so it doesn't have any of the things these filters claim to remove, and therefor they are useless. I researched the water quality reports in my city and the only thing that could be in there that you'd want to filter out is chlorine, which is used by the city as a disinfectant. No shower filter removes calcium carbonate which is dissolved in water that results in hard water. As a matter of fact, my city water supply cannot remove it either. If you have hard water problems call Culligan and buy a whole-house water softening system which uses salt and other chemically compounds to counter the calcium carbonate to make your water soft, but it doesn't filter out calcium either. To summarize, none of these damned things work, but this particular product may filter some chlorine. And with a leaky device, how effective is the filtering? I don't know. And After a week of use I do not notice any difference in the feel of my hair and skin. It is annoying and you feel ripped-off when this brand new item is installed properly as per the instructions and then leak the first time you put water through it. Honestly I was skeptical of all of these shower filters, but my girlfriend was insistent that she wanted to try one to help with brittle hair and dry skin after showering. She is not happy with it either. I am just more frustrated because I had to install it. This company needs to rethink and redesign their product so that it NEVER leaks. Then the filtering subject is another thing entirely. I say skip it. You don't need one anyway. The advertising for these things makes you star to think there are bad things in your water. There are not bad things in the municipal water that meet state and federal standards coming to your home.

Great product so far. 1 week in.
Was skeptical but live in Vegas and this filter provided soft water. It made a difference in the feel of lake mead water right away. Not sure how long the filters will last yet but initial review is this thing is great. Not water pressure loss either..

Good filtration, but the unit itself needs improvement
I purchased this unit on December 26, 2025, and started using it in January 2026. Now, in August 2026, the unit has broken. I barely ever touched it, the only time I handled it was when changing the filter. I’m not sure exactly what happened, but I noticed it started leaking around the connection to the tube. I tried checking to see if the connection was loose, and I realized the whole connection was moving around. After carefully inspecting it, I discovered that the connection had actually broken and eventually came completely off. I have to say that the filtration itself is very good, but the unit is not built strong enough. The connection point needs to be reinforced and made more durable. Overall, it’s a good product for filtration, but the construction needs improvement because it should last much longer than this with normal use.

Easy to install, great product!
Installation video also available (at the time of writing this) Water feels great! Depending if you use a shower head with a hose you may need an extra washer so that the water doesn't leak. I tried 2 different ones and one hose was good with 1 and another needed 2.
