I had a fluke volt pen before this and I must say the fluke was less sensitive which is good and bad- but where as the fluke would constantly eject it’s battery, the Kline is sturdy, and nothing will fall out or get pressed accidentally. The kline is sensitive which is good as it tells you straight away if there is power anywhere near it. Isolating wires with it can be hard as even on the less sensitive setting it’s still able to pick up power within a couple centimetres of the tip. The important part is that it will keep you safe. And the light is excellent.

Great little pocket voltage detector, has 2 ranges for detecting lower voltages from 12vac up with more sensitivity or when you are trying to determine which wire in a group is live the 70vac up range gives less sensitivity, also has separate tip led colours depending on the range selected, also has a fairly bright flash light on the measuring end, so actually lights up what you are trying to work on/test, which is handy unlike on my last fluke tester which had the flashlight on the rear, so it was either a tester or flashlight, and not both which was pretty pointless. Have used it daily for the last few months and has been faultless, accurate, please do always check the wiring is actually off with a second meter to be 100% sure, this is the same with all voltage detectors.

This is my second one. The first was great to use, but the included battery leaked and ruined it. Despite that I bought another one which says how much I liked it.

Good tool, and really handy having a torch in my volt pen. Build is robust and it's hard to think of anything negative to say about it in itself. It does seem a little bit on the expensive side though.

The incorporated torch is surprisingly bright and has proved to be a very useful on more than one occasion. The "no touch" volt tester is easy to use and feels robust in the hand.

I was quite happily using this voltage tester a couple of times a month for the last year until yesterday. Yesterday I was removing some cabling for an old kitchen fan. The cabling was routed behind plasterboard and stuck in adhesive but I could see where it entered and exited. So after cutting the power I removed the cables going to the fan, and cut the cables where they entered and exited the plasterboard. There was no way power could be going to the cables behind the plasterboard, or so I thought. However, when I tested the 'cut' cables I was getting a 'voltage present' reading from this tester. Long story short - the tester must have been picking up a voltage from the neighbours kitchen through the brickwork. I then roughly checked the 'sensitivity' of this tester and it was giving a 'voltage present' reading when I paced the tester against a brick wall a foot away from a known live cable. I don't know how I never noticed this before and yes I was using 70-1000V range. Knowing this, the Klein voltage tester is useless to me now as while its 'no voltage' seem to be reliable its 'voltage present' could be from anything within a foot of the tester.

I bought this mainly for basic home electrical checks before working on outlets and light fittings, and it’s been really straightforward to use. The alerts are clear with both sound and flashing lights, and I like that it can detect different voltage ranges depending on what you’re testing. The built-in flashlight also ended up being more useful than I expected when working in darker areas. It feels solid and well made compared to some cheaper testers I’ve used before, and the pocket clip makes it easy to keep nearby in a toolbox or bag. Obviously it’s not a replacement for proper electrical testing equipment if you’re doing advanced work, but for quickly checking whether wires or outlets are live, it’s been really handy and reassuring to have around.
