Broan 682 Bathroom Ventilation Fan with Charcoal Filter and White Plastic-Grille

I needed this fan for a bathroom that had a shallow ceiling and needed a duct free ventilation. It was exactly as stated on the add. The installation was simple. The noise level is very low and the suction quality is great.

Pros: light, compact. Easy install and hookup Cons: Flimsy material. Cheap filter. Some planning needed if install is not in new construction I purchased this item because it is one of two ductless bathroom fans that I could find on the market (the other is from Broan's NuTone line) and I needed to replace an existing 1960s fan that was never vented out . It seemed to be shipped in good condition. The product is pretty basic - fan, grille,and hardware. it says that a 7 1/4"x7 1/4" rough-in is required for install, but truthfully I needed a much bigger access hole to complete the installation. You will also need about 4" of height. A metal bracket is located and nailed into the ceiling joist. The fan housing is then snapped into the bracket. Position the bracket properly to allow for ceiling drywall thickness and electrical conduit access because the fan housing is not sturdy enough for multiple installs. Electrical access is via one of two punch outs- one in top corner of fan housing and one on side of housing. Take time to think how you will route the electric because I don't recommend knocking out both punch outs as this seemed to weaken the flimsy sheet metal fan housing and allow for distortion. This product doesn't have a light so wiring it up was a breeze (in my case a separate light fixture and this fan are ran from the same switch). I believe this fan works by recirculating air through a filter. The filters are supposed to last 60-90 days and can be ordered from the manufacturer. The filter is very thin on a very flimsy frame and is held in by a clip. The filter fit pretty snug and was in place when the fan was delivered, but after I popped out the punch outs and mounted the fan housing to my ceiling joist, it no longer fit and I had to bend the filter to get it in place (hence my previous comments on flimsiness). This fan is not meant to remove moisture from the air so DO NOT USE in full baths with tub/shower. I think ideal use is in a half bath/powder room in a part of the house with good ventilation. This fan is quieter than other fans I have used in the past, but still loud enough to mask the sounds of nature. Time will tell how long before the filters need to be switched out but since I am expecting low activity and minimal bomb droppage, I am targeting six months or more before changing. Note: the NuTone 682NT looks to be the exact same thing as the 682, but cost almost twice as much. Perhaps it is constructed from better materials or the grille is nicer.

Didn't want to spend alot of effort on this install so my bathroom light happened to be on the wall over the sink and on a stud. I cut a 7.5 inch square in the wall dryrock with one side on the stud higher than the light. Put a wire pigtail on exhaust fan and threaded it through the existing hole for the light. Attached fan box (drilled three holes in it) directly to the stud. Didn't need use that bracket that came with it. I think it would need larger opening in drywall to be able to slide box into bracket. That would be more work for those installing in existing room with finished drywall like I have. Put light back on and good to go! NO PATCHING OR PAINTING REQUIRED. I put a Febreeze car air freshener in it for better odor control.

I had to switch from the extractor to this circulating fan because I had no other choice. I looked into several alternatives, but unfortunately, this was the only one I could find available today. I am extremely disappointed with the overall quality. The fan is incredibly basic and feels poorly made. The supposedly replaceable filter is particularly disappointing—it honestly looks like something made from a six-year-old’s school project. Even more concerning, I noticed several black spots and discoloration around the unit that looked similar to scorching or burn marks, as if there may have been an electrical issue or short circuit at some point. I cannot confirm what caused the marks, but receiving a product in this condition is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about its quality and safety. The electrician refuse to installed it. For the price and intended purpose, I expected a properly manufactured and inspected product. I would not recommend this fan to anyone. In my opinion, it is a waste of time and money, and the condition in which it arrived is simply unacceptable.

Delivered on time. So far works well however is smaller than appears and is a bit noisy.

I recently installed this fan in my powder room. This choice was primarily to avoid the complexity of venting through a brick wall between 2 floors. Installation and Design • Instructions: The installation instructions were clear and straightforward. • Bracket Design: The bracket functions well. My setup is vertical, with the fan’s back against another wall. I foresee potential difficulties in removing the fan in the future due to the bracket's design, so I installed a string around the back to hopefully ease future removals. Hopefully the fan lasts a long, long time. • Material Quality: The materials are what I would describe as contractor grade – functional and safe, but prioritizing cost-effectiveness over premium quality. • Construction Quality: The metal housing, initially bowed, straightened out after mounting. It's average in terms of build IMO. Filter and Noise Level • Filter: The included filter was disappointing. It's a flimsy aluminum rectangle with about 1/8 inch of filter fabric, which can easily deform during installation. • Noise Level: The fan is not quiet. The noise level varies depending on the installation space. In my case, where the fan's back is against a wall, it's noticeably loud on the other side. This doesn’t bother me much, as the sound serves as a reminder to turn it off when not in use. However, for those seeking a quiet, "whisper-mode" fan, this might not be the ideal choice. Personal Modifications - To enhance the fan's performance, I invested in thicker, more robust charcoal filter material for the sides and top intakes of the cover. I was careful to secure these additions properly to prevent them from getting sucked into the fan. Additionally, I tossed a car air freshener in the exhaust plenum for a touch of fragrance. Clearly these are at the discretion of the user but it made a huge difference IMO. Summary In summary, this fan offers good value, though not great. It fulfills its basic function. With an additional investment of around $15-$20 in materials, its effectiveness significantly improves beyond what's provided out of the box.

Only one around, beats cutting hole in roof or soffit, added led light kit, doesn't say compatible however they are ,, would have given 5 stars if light would be included

Please arrange to replace the item because doesn’t working. Is it suitable for the electricity system in the UAE?
