It works!
I have genetic alopecia, and I've been using Rogain for 2 years. It's really good, and it really works! My head is so much fuller of hair, and my confidence has skyrocketed because of this. I stopped using it for a couple of months, and my head was full of bald spots. The results are really fast, but you'll notice more hair falling down at the beginning of the process. It's normal, don't worry. As soon as your body gets used to it, the growth is back. I have to quit regularly, and I can't stop, but this is because my alopecia is genetic. If you use it with other treatments, it's really effective.

Great product
I could be the poster child for Rogaine. I am 61-years old and have a nice, thick full head of hair most of which I attribute to Rogaine which I have used since my hairline started to recede in my late 20's. I was using minoxidil back when you had to get a prescription for it. Several times I have bought it in local pharmacies and have had young ladies who work at that store say, "Is this for you?" If you start using this while young and stick with it, it may help you to keep your hair as well. Don't wait until you lose a bunch of hair first though. From my research, I have found that it is much easier to keep your hair than it is to grow it back once this is gone.

Easy to apply, thickens hair, does it work? Time will tell...
I started experiencing hair loss when I was 20. I noticed copious amounts of hair on my bathroom counter and saw my forehead was getting larger. Shortly after I started using the classic Rogaine 5 percent solution. It was difficult to apply to the scalp and made my morning and evening routines longer than usual. After a year I stopped using it. Why? I don't know, I just kind of stopped. Now I'm 26, my hair loss has gotten dramatically worse so I finally said "Why not?" and decided to give Rogaine another shot. I bought a one month supply of the foam and was so very happy on how easy it is to apply. It's a creamy mousse that takes less than 30 seconds to apply to the scalp. I simply spray 3-4 small mounds of the foam on different areas of my hair/scalp and rub it in. Because it is a mousse style product, it will stiffen your hair a little bit, but If used and styled properly I find it actually thickens my hair. I let it dry for 5 minutes and then I'll run a comb through, which breaks up the stiff hair and leaves me with a thicker looking hair. It's so noticeably thicker that people have said "Your hair looks thicker." Since I have been using it for only a month, I can't tell if it's actually regrowing hair. I will report later after a few more months. Pros: -EASY TO APPLY (FINALLY!) -Thickens hair, if styled properly -Doesn't drip like old Rogaine -No irritated scalp Cons: -A little expensive Yes I included expense as a con. But in a way, Rogaine has great quality control. I've used generic minoxidil and it irritated my scalp badly. I know that generic minoxidil foam does exist, but you really don't save that much money buying the stuff. This Rogaine foam was excellent and I think it's worth the extra money.

Seems to be working
I noticed this summer my hair was thinning around the front-center part of my head and was apparently going to leave me with a much higher hairline (the hair on the vertex of my head seemed to be intact). Since I already have a high forehead to begin with, I wanted to try to at least preserve the hair I had left. I spoke to a dermatologist first who did some bloodwork to make sure the hair loss wasn't due to a nutritional deficiency or some other problem. After she was satisfied it wasn't either of those things, we talked about Rogaine & Propecia. I decided to try Rogaine given some of the latest reported permanent side-effects of Propecia that I'd read about. So far, I'm pleased to say my hair seems to have stopped thinning. It actually looks like it's thickened a little, but you can still see where it's thinner than the rest of the hair on my head. But, this is really all I wanted - just keep what I have and live with it being a little thinner. Better than losing it altogether if you ask me! I saw results in a few weeks, but I think this is because I started using it early in the hair loss process - something which I think will help. I did not experience any initial hair loss after starting the treatment like the manufacturer mentioned (in fact, they say this a good sign), but it seems to have worked anyway. As others have said, it does leave a residue in your hair, but it's not really that noticeable once you comb it back into place after massaging the stuff into your scalp. Then again, I have brown hair so it may be different if you have lighter hair. I would say if your hair is thinning, give it a try. Odds are it'll at least let you keep what you have left. Don't wait until you've lost most of the hair - I think it's better to start when you still have some healthy hair follicles in place for the Rogaine to help. I also suggest talking to a doctor, too, just to make sure it's not something else causing the hair loss. I know no medication is 100% effective, but I can't help but wonder if some of those who say it isn't working for them might have something else going on in their systems causing the hair loss. I'm a 40-year old man with male pattern baldness running mostly in my mother's side of my family, though my father and paternal grandfather both had receding hairlines, too.

Works Great!
Long time? Smelly? Huh??? No idea where these other reviewers are coming from... After the first month, I noticed that I no longer had "hair on my pillow." I can't honestly say that I see a growth of new hair in my thinning spot, but the fact that I no longer see a pillow full of hair every morning, or a shower drain clogged with hair after I shower must mean that I am not losing hair (as fast) any more. I don't think this is a "cure" for baldness. Rather, it _does_ seem to slow the loss of hair in the "male pattern baldness" area of the top rear head. That is all it claims to do, and it appears to do it (for me) extremely well. I have been using it for a year now, and am very pleased with the results. Yes, you have to keep using it, and as directed. I tried to cut back to once a day and after a month I started seeing more hair on my pillow in the morning again. Went back to the recommended twice a day and "no more hair". Don't expect miracles if you are already bald, but if you use this as directed, you will likely see a large reduction in hair loss. At least I did...

Good option for the price.
The foam seems to be good quality since I’ve been using this. Some of the store brands seem a bit watery and not straight foam. This has good foaming and isn’t watery. It has the same quality as brand name at a much better price.
