Large & Detailed
I knew they’d be big, just didn’t realize how big! Picture shows them with Lego Duplo for scale. I’m super sensitive to smells, and I didn’t notice any smells from these. My toddler and my big kids enjoy playing with these. Most of them are hollow with two halves glued together; while the two halves aren’t always aligned with the utmost of precision, they’re aligned good enough for my family. If the big ones were solid, they’d probably be too heavy for safe toddler play.

These animals are fantastic!
I bought 5 sets of the Jumbo animals (farm, jungle, forest, zoo, pets) and am extremely satisfied. The reviews over the last 8 years were mixed, and it sounds like this may have been in part due to a change in manufacturer. After extensive online research for animal figures, I decided to purchase the Learning Resources brand, and I'm very glad I did.First, let me say that these things are STURDY! They are a very firm, rubbery plastic with just a little bit of squeeze to them. Because of the substantial weight, the animals stand nicely and stay put. It seems they will be very durable.Second, yes they do have seams. I'm not an expert, but I can't imagine it's possible to mould a hollow plastic toy without either a seam or hole. What's really great is they do NOT have a hole like most squeezable plastic toys. This is important, because toys with holes get moisture inside which can grow black mold and cannot be properly cleaned. So, while the seams are not absolutely ideal, they make for a water-tight toy that can be thoroughly washed and safely used in the bath.Although the paint job is not perfect, the ones I received were not so bad as to detract from the overall look. And I'm fairly certain my toddler granddaughter won't notice if the lion's eyes are a little crooked! Before purchasing, I debated about whether these sets were too expensive, but am very happy with the quality of the toys for the price. At $3-7 each, given the size and quality, they are an excellent value.Of the 27 animals I bought, 1 had a seam that was noticeably wonky. It didn't affect the structural integrity so wouldn't have really been a problem, however I reached out to Learning Resources to ask if they might provide a replacement. Their customer service was incredibly gracious and promptly sent a new rabbit. It can be challenging to buy toys online so I wanted to share my experience in the hopes it will help others who are looking for quality toys. I highly recommend these Jumbo Animal sets, and in fact, have found Learning Resources to produce many high-quality educational toys.

Great product, very detailed, great price!
I ordered these for my our pets study. My students absolutely adore these, and they have been a class favorite since I introduced them. As a teacher I am always looking for items that I can use in my classroom that are a good value and are durable. These torally fit the bill. Since I pay for these items out of pocket and dont like wasting money, I tey to purchase things that will last for a long time. I was very pleased with the quality...they will defintely stand up to lots of years of play in a busy preschool classroom! I am looking to purchase additional animals from this brand since I liked the quality. The animal sizes were great too (they are perfect size for little hands to hold!) The animals are very detailed too. I will be buying more of these for my classroom. Thanks for making a great product that children love!

Better than Schleich for Toddlers
My 18-month-old son loves animals, especially dogs and cats, so I searched for a set of animals that would be an appropriate size for his age. I am very picky about the toys my son plays with, and I try to buy wooden toys as much as possible. If you have seen the price of wooden animal figurines, you know as well as I do that you have to either be rich, or your kid will only have like 5 toys to play with if you buy those. Less is sometimes more, but I think these plastic figures are just fine. Yes, you can see the seams on them, and no, they are not heirloom quality Waldorf toys. But my son loved them at first sight, especially the Golden Retriever. These animals are large! We have a few of the Schleich animals, and these are much larger. The Schleich animals are made for ages 3+, and these Learning Resources animals are for 24 months+. I think they are just fine for my 18-month-old son. He certainly can't swallow them. They are not really to scale, as the rabbit is the same size as the cat, which is just a little bit smaller than the dog, but my son couldn't care less about this. He likes making them walk around and he makes the noises for the dog and cat. These also help him to identify the other animals, such as the fish and the bird. The animals are cute, and according to the manufacturer, made with non-toxic materials. I did not notice a strong smell upon opening them. Yes, if you smell them they smell like plastic, but they are plastic. If you don't like plastic toys you probably shouldn't buy these for your child. I thought it would be worth mentioning that Healthystuff.org rated the Schleich figures as a medium hazard rating. I did not find any Learning Resources figures on that website.Overall I really like these and although they are pricey, they are less than a set of Schleich animals if you were to buy 6 of them. They are also larger. I also purchased a set of Safari Ltd Pets TOOB and as I suspected, those are too small and a definite choking hazard. I will save them for when my son is 3 and he is hopefully no longer putting toys in his mouth.I encourage you to give them a try. I plan to buy more sets, like the farm animals and the dinosaurs.
