Q: is this for serrated knives also?

I tried one of my one-sided serrated knives and I didn't think this sharpener was for that purpose. However, it sure does a fine (quick and easy) job on every other knife I have sharpened with it. Hope this helps.

Q: Does this work well on hollow ground knives where the blade is concave rather than a regular straight edge and if so, is there a choice in the setup.

The device is simple - has not changed in 40 years. No setup. I only use it on standard knives and it works great.

Q: Can you use this on ceramic knives?

No sure about ceramic knives UNLESS the blade is metal. I LOVE THIS SHARPENER. We have had ours for years. I keep it in the garage mounted on wall - my husband uses it for his pocket knives and we use it for all of our commercial fishing knives. Hope this helps.

Q: Just pull the knife through positioned straight? Is there any benefit to pulling through a few times holding against side plastic housing so tilted?

I pull it thru straight several times, about 3 times. It works great! I have one attached to a cutting board and another attached to the side of my kitchen cabinet. Obviously, I really like sharp knives. Also I have been using this product since the 1980's. Unfortunately, the price keeps increasing.
