Question 1

Will this take regular lancers or do you need to keep buying their lancers?

Accepted Answer

We stock our lancets on Amazon for under $10: https://www.amazon.com/Genteel-Butterfly-Touch-Lancets-100/dp/B01MUH2FAY/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1491247656&sr=8-1&keywords=butterfly+touchThere are also other compatible brands, such as: https://www.amazon.com/LifeScan-OneTouch-Ultra-Sterile-Lancets/dp/B00WKO14KE/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1469574019&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=ultrasoft+lancetshttps://www.amazon.com/Tiniboy-36-Gauge-Lancets-Box/dp/B003X00ZWW/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469574076&sr=8-1&keywords=tinyboyhttps://www.amazon.com/Bayer-Contour-Microlet-Lancets-Count/dp/B00CP1U0EI/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469573922&sr=8-1&keywords=bayer+microlethttps://www.amazon.com/Walgreens-Comfort-Assured-Colored-Sterile/dp/B00MQLI11G/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469574157&sr=8-1&keywords=walgreens+super+thin+lancets https://www.amazon.com/EasyTouch-832101-Twist-Lancet-Count/dp/B009ZJDKDG/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469573991&sr=8-2&keywords=easy+touch+twistJust remember that if you switch lancet brands (as there length does vary subtly) you may have to use a different contact tip and/or hold the activation button down slightly longer or shorter, depending on your skin thickness and desired pain threshold.

Question 2

Do any insurance companies cover this?

Accepted Answer

Most insurance companies cover the cost of diabetic testing supplies. However, you will need to contact your insurance company to find out what your specific plan will cover for a Genteel device. The insurance customer service number is usually located on the back of your insurance card. Genteel is a lancing device, so be sure to ask to speak with someone in the Durable Medical or Medical Supplies Department.Tell them you want coverage for a spring-loaded lancing device (which is a unique design & makes it a one-of-a-kind device). The HCPCS Billing Code is A4258. We cannot guarantee insurance coverage, but have created several documents to aid in your effort to have your insurance plan cover a Genteel device. https://www.mygenteel.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/2016-06-27-InsuranceGuidanceSteps.pdf , https://www.mygenteel.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Medical-Necessity-Order-Form_7_19_16.pdf, https://www.mygenteel.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Dr.-Bernstein-Recommendation.pdf

Question 3

Will the device work with freestyle lancets?

Accepted Answer

No, the Freestyle Lite lancets do NOT work with this device. I tried a dozen of them, with every contact tip depth and got zero blood. In comparison, the Genteel Butterfly Touch Lancets work like a charm every time, even on my forearm, with the yellow number 2 contact tip. I bought this device and didn't order any additional lancets because of the two people who answered this question that the Freestyle Lancets (I have about 300) work with this device. A pox on their houses!

Question 4

What comes with the lancing device, any lancets to get the user started?

Accepted Answer

As of 4/10/2017 all Genteel's will include a Butterfly Touch lancet sample pack (10 lancets). Here is the listing for 100: https://www.amazon.com/Genteel-Butterfly-Touch-Lancets-100/dp/B01MUH2FAY/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1491247656&sr=8-1&keywords=best+lancets+diabetesThere are also other compatible brands, such as: https://www.amazon.com/LifeScan-OneTouch-Ultra-Sterile-Lancets/dp/B00WKO14KE/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1469574019&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=ultrasoft+lancetshttps://www.amazon.com/Tiniboy-36-Gauge-Lancets-Box/dp/B003X00ZWW/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469574076&sr=8-1&keywords=tinyboyhttps://www.amazon.com/Bayer-Contour-Microlet-Lancets-Count/dp/B00CP1U0EI/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469573922&sr=8-1&keywords=bayer+microlethttps://www.amazon.com/Walgreens-Comfort-Assured-Colored-Sterile/dp/B00MQLI11G/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469574157&sr=8-1&keywords=walgreens+super+thin+lancets https://www.amazon.com/EasyTouch-832101-Twist-Lancet-Count/dp/B009ZJDKDG/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469573991&sr=8-2&keywords=easy+touch+twistJust remember that if you switch lancet brands (as there length does vary subtly) you may have to use a different contact tip and/or hold the activation button down slightly longer or shorter, depending on your skin thickness and desired pain threshold.
