Modern Masters Satin Silver Metallic Paint

The best shiny luminous black paint. It’s not like a dull black. It’s a wonderful metallic luster finish. The one and only black if you’re using black and I’m sure their other colors are as good. Totally worth the price. It’s nice and thick and you don’t have to use a lot and it leaves everything with a nice three-dimensional look. Not flatten, dull like plain black latex paint.

I got this paint twice. First, couple of years ago, I used it to paint the groves on some closet doors and a couple of drawer pulls. This time, I painted my black metal coffee and end table. When I painted the grooves on the doors, I bought an empty (new) lip gloss click pen and filled it with the paint for ease of application. It worked great on those groves. Still, it did take 3 thick coats and even 4 in some areas. For the end table, I did kilz primer first for adhesion then a million coats (5-6) of this paint then polyurethane. For the coffee table I smartened up, put a blob of the paint on a piece of paper and got a color match from home depot (was told numerous times by the home depot guy that he can't give me metallic and had to confirm I am clear on that and want it anyway). So I got away with primer, color match regular paint as base coat, then just 2 coats of this paint and then polyurethane. No difference in the end result between the end table and the coffee table. Some notes: *This paint has an interesting, almost gelatinous texture. *It does not have harsh smells. *It really does look metallic in the end. *It does take multiple coats, frustrating and after the first coat or even second it still looks totally sheer but after additional coats it starts to look as you'd expect. *Because it is metallic, i.e. shiny, it is harder to see and so paint evenly because of the way the light hits at different angles. Don't know if that makes sense, but if you try it you'd know what I mean right away. Just as you think its all done, you move it, the light hits it from another angle and boom theres 3 spots you missed that looked just fine before you moved it. *The jar i got 2 years ago had about 1/5 left (just a finger on the bottom) but to my surprise was still good, no difference in texture, etc after sitting for 2 years. *I have not had any issues with chipping, durability etc. But I have always used it over kilz adhesion primer and finish with polyurethane so maybe that played a role. On the flip side, I never sanded before painting with it, I just figured the primer is enough. *It will take multiple coats on your project but the tiniest droplet will stick to your clothes immediately and permanently (will not wash off!)! I ended up with a little on the shirt I was wearing and could not get it out so I made a few more "artistic" brush strokes on it and the shirt is now upgraded from plain to metallic print lol. *Totally worth the effort and multiple coats! In the end, it let me update the tables I have and keep them rather than spend couple of hundred dollars on new. Love it, beautiful rich color, 10/10 would recommend!

The paint seems to be of good quality. The color is vibrant and rich, appearing different under various lighting conditions. I love the beautiful antique gold vibe it gives off in sunlight. It takes on a nice dark brass tone in lower light settings. I love how versatile this paint is—it can be used on different surfaces, including canvas, wood, ceramic, and even plastic. The coverage is good and fairly opaque. Depending on what you're painting, it may require 2-3 layers, assuming you apply it thinly—which I recommend (see video). I applied two thin layers to the ceramic (in photos and video) and three to the plastic base of the humidifier. The paint applies smoothly but has some texture, which adds authenticity. It dried very quickly between layers. I forgot to time it exactly, but I was able to handle the final product in less than an hour, I think. I can't speak to its durability yet, but I'll try to update if I notice any cracking, flaking, or discoloration over time. I didn’t use any primer or sealant on these projects.

Quality- great. Color-beautiful. I thought I was buying a gallon though, but the amount was sufficient. I did NOT use it alone. I used a 2 tone effect technique, painted this over another color for dimension and used a small sponge roller for a weaving effect. Camoflauged my damaged walls in my large dining area, looks so classy, elevated and gorgeous. Unique, Like wallpaper.

We painted our ceiling with MM Metallic Pearl, it is very important to follow directions. Our ceiling was first painted a bright white. It has a soft texture. We added an extender as directed. It took two coats to achieve desired results. It is important that you work quickly, smoothly, and evenly. Edges must not dry, and do not go back over what you have painted. If so, you will have darker streaks. After we finished, and it dried, it was amazing! Our ceiling looks like a tin ceiling. I didn't want just a plain ceiling, and I definitely achieved it. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of technique. You cannot just roll it on. You must roll in a straight line, and keep edges wet. We had two people, and two rollers, one person to fill the roller, and the other to roll it on. You must also make sure that the paint is well mixed, there is a lot of metallic in the paint and they may settle, which will give you an uneven look. We painted a very large area, so I feel this make it more challenging, but it went smoothly. This went quickly, evenly, and would do it again. It didn't take that long at all. Worth the money and effort!! i have attached a couple of photos, they do not in any way do justice!! End color is not a bright white, but a silvery pearl. It appears yellowish in the photos, but it is not.

I was hesitant to use silver paint in my bedroom, but I am so glad I did. It's beautiful. The walls and ceiling literally shine as if they have an inner glow. The painter who painted my bedroom was from Italy who had spent years painting with Venetian plaster paints. He was in awe with this paint. He said it took hours and hours to paint a wall when working with plaster paints, but Modern Masters achieved the same effect with a simple paint roller. I'm going to paint my living room with Modern Masters metallic paint next, either the steel gray or the pewter, can't make up my mind... But really, the silver color isn't garish or harsh at all. It is just, simply, beautiful and so easy to use and clean up afterward. Also the painter commented about the quality. He marveled at how much actual silver was in the paint, unlike other brands.

Nickel silver tone trim in the bathroom. It originally was a dark brown wood. I primed, painted with 2 coats of ‘griege’ latex, and 2 coats of Modern Masters Nickel Silver, coated that in 1-3 coats of water based polyurethane (1 coat on the moldings and 3 coats on the window sill because the cat likes to go up there). The semi gloss poly will make dusting easier. I was skeptical of using this pain at first because it was such a tiny jar of paint, however if you paint an undercoating of a similar color first, a small amount of this goes a very long way! I did all the trim molding in my bathroom with 2 coats of this paint and still have almost half a jar left. It covered 2 door frames, one window frame, and about 6 feet or trim. I’m impressed. The color also matches the nickel silver items such as the sink faucet and shower curtain rod exactly. And to think I almost decided against using it! So glad I did. It got ooohs and ahhhs from some professional painters I know when I posted it on Facebook! Tip: use a brush that’s high quality and brush in one direction. It gives you time to work but then dies quickly. I found it very easy to work with compared to other metallic paints. Update: The polyurethane made it less metallic and more milky-satin but I still like the look of it. I may scuff-sand it and add another coat because I still have enough left, but am still undecided.

LOVE Modern Masters metallic paints!!! Used them for years and they always perform beautifully.

The packaging and speed of delivery before the mentioned time and the beauty of the color, it is worth buying only. I would buy it again.

I purchased this product for a 'classy finishing touch' to my hand painted bedside unit that I created for one of my neighbours. See the attached photos. She loved the finished product. She actually picked up this unit from a 'tip' and after I completed it - instead of it being 'trash' it looked a 'beautiful swan'. This metallic in Pearl White was used on the top and sides of the unit. The product has real metallic particles - so when you use this, you need to keep stirring it so the metallic particles keep being 'mixed' instead of settling on the bottom of the jar. It is low odour and low VOC, quick drying and water based so you can wash your brushes in water, which is great. I highly recommend this product to whoever would like something a bit different to 'jazz' up a piece of furniture they are painting. You can also use this product on walls, trim and ceilings as well as furniture. You will need 2/3 coats, but you will not be disappointed with the outcome.

I painted an old mahogany TV cabinet with this and it has come up brilliantly. The colour you can see is the colour it has achieved. It is really easy to paint on and dries really quickly. I am very pleased with the result and it certainly changed the 'doubting' members of my family who thought I should throw this old cabinet away!

I had to wait quite a while for it, as it came from America, but it was worth it. Applies smoothly with a great finish. Would recommend.
