Good introduction to this hobby
This is a good book for an introduction to the hobby. I think it could have used more pictures to illustrate the points is my only real complaint. It gives some good advice for starting out and how to set up your aquaponics system.

I have electronic books and audio books
But sometimes having a physical book is just so much better! That applies only when the book is worth it and this one is. I have been working on learning hydroponics and am just getting to a point where I understand some of the basics. The aquaponics systems introduces fish into the system which should be a good "full circle" kind of system. I am interested in starting very small with this type of system and then sizing up to the ones shown in the book. I like the different systems shown and how they can be scaled to fit your needs or space. Size and style of system, plants, and fish - lots of decisions to make and this book helps you decide what works best for you.

Useful for aquarium fish keepers too
My interest in aquaponics has more to do with the plants providing filtration for aquarium fish, rather than in the production of plants and fish for food. The instructions in this beginner’s guide are clear and offer enough detail to be truly useful. This isn’t just an overview that will send you looking for another book just to implement it. For most, this book should provide all the information you need.I was easily able to downsize and modify the systems in this book to make a plant filtration system for one of my aquariums. I will certainly be doing more of this with other aquariums, as well. The author does briefly mention that you can use the full-size systems he presents to raise “pet” fish or goldfish. But that’s JustMe. (I received this product in exchange for an honest review, and that is what I have offered here.)

A Good, Well-written Book for Those Considering Aquaponics
Sometimes a book is worthwhile for its ability to keep you from taking up a practice that is not something you will enjoy. This is such a book.My daughter has been a fan of aquaponics for many years, so I though I’d investigate to see if this was something I’d enjoy adding to our garden. “Beginner’s Guide to Aquaponics” is a well-written book that really dives into the ins and outs of aquaponics. It’s easy to understand, easy to picture such a setup in your own backyard. And it’s not for me.I could picture the setup, the fishes, and, finally the plants, and for me the joy of getting started just didn’t happen. And because the book is so clear about the processes involved, I was equally clear about not getting involved.Thank you to author Seth Connell for a well-written explanation of aquaponics. Your book will help many gardeners and growers.

So so book!
This book is good for information, but has absolutely no detail as to how to build what part she will need, and how to put it together!
