I recently moved to Washington, and adjusting to the darker, cloudier days has been a bit of a challenge. I decided to try the Verilux HappyLight, and it has honestly made such a positive difference in my daily routine. It’s simple to use, lightweight, and easy to incorporate into my mornings. I turn it on while I’m having coffee or getting ready, and it really helps me feel more awake and focused without that sluggish feeling. The light feels natural—bright but not overwhelming. Since using it, I’ve noticed a real improvement in my mood, especially on those gray, rainy days. It’s become a small but powerful part of my self-care routine and has helped me adjust to my new environment. If you’re dealing with limited sunlight or seasonal mood changes, I would definitely recommend the Verilux HappyLight. It’s been such a helpful addition for me.

I've had this for two days and LOVE it! I work in a room with no windows to the outside, and that makes it very difficult when I drive TO work in the dark, and drive FROM work in the dark. This light is very bright, and I love the stand. It's very slim and compact, much like the early Kindles, so you can place it and store it almost anywhere. The timer is a great idea; you can set it for 15 minutes at a time, up to one hour. You can also adjust the brightness. You do need to be looking at it (indirectly) while you're using it, so place it somewhere that you can see it while you're reading, doing paperwork, crocheting, putting together your model airplanes, etc.

This is replacement for another one that was 15 years old and I'm really pleased. These lights can help balance you're circadian rhythm.

The lamp works as far as its primary purpose goes, it seems like it’s helping with my wintertime blues. My only complaint is that the timer just doesn’t work sometimes. There are four lights on the bottom that light up to indicate how long you’ve set the timer for (15 minutes per light) and two or three times I’ve had it just not tick down and turn off as it should. Like I noticed it had been on for awhile and put a 15 minute timer on to see if one of the indicator lights turned off (as it should in that time), and it didn’t. It’s not a horrible problem, but you may want to keep an eye on the clock when you turn it on just to make sure you’re not sitting there for longer than you want or need to.

Arrived as described. Light is very bright but good. A little heavy but transportable. Plug in. Easy operation. Timer is a great feature. Good for seasonal depression.

Have been using most days since I purchased. I have found that if I use it first thing in the morning as I am drinking my tea, I will fall asleep more quickly, sleep more soundly and for longer at night. If I use it later in the day, it's not as effective for me. I do not suffer from SAD, so I cannot comment on that. I haven't used the timer or kept track of how much time I have used per session. I just keep it on as I am checking emails, etc. Probably 45 minutes.

You have to sit with your face 6 inches away from it on brightest setting to get the full 10,000 lux used in studies. The manual even says that on page 10. Preferably for 30 minutes. If you're farther than 6 inches away the lux drops quickly...at 12 inches you're only getting about 4000 lux. It's awkward finding a way to sit 6 inches away for 15-30 minutes. Basically I prop it up on a container on my desk so that it's higher up, lower my chair to lowest level, and hunch down and lean forward so my face is 6 inches away. I guess you could use something like an articulating arm attached to your desk. Otherwise it's a nice looking product, and I *think* it's helping me so far with SAD and adjusting my sleep schedule. I've been using it every morning for about a week. Also, be sure you aren't wearing glasses that filter out blue light while using it (tinted or blue-blocking lenses). Light therapy like this uses blue light for a lot of its effectiveness.

Truly has been a life saver with my SAD!!! I live in Canada and the days are very short....this light has made a huge difference in my mood and I don't feel the tightness in my chest of sadness. I am very happy !!! I like the easy turn off and on button. It's sturdy on the table. The timer for auto shut-off is in 15 min increments, up to an hour. It's very bright and has 3 brightness settings. I keep it on the table and during my morning ☕ coffee I have it on for about 15 or 20 min. it's been a game changer for me enduring the cold and dark winters!! Very happy!!

It works well, very high light intensity (the lowest intensity is very bright for me), doesn't take place and the buttons are easy to used. My only bad comment is that it is less practical to transport than it seems. It very light weighted, but everything about plug-in is not travel wise. I bought it to have it one I can transport from home to this office, and it way easier with that than some other lamp, but it was designer that way. Still, good lamp for the price.

Ontario winters seem to progressively have more grey days and along with it my husband’s grumpy mood. So for my own sanity, I purchased the Verilux Happy Light Lumi Plus for him as it was well reviewed and reasonably priced. Amazon had the best price and as always the quickest shipping. He has it set up beside his computer and turns it on daily while he checks his emails. He’s not sure if it’s just placebo effect but says he feels better than usual at this time of year. After getting his feedback I purchased another one for my father, who due to age doesn’t get outside as much during the winter and his mood also seems to suffer from the lack of sunshine.
