Best value set
This is the best lego robotics set. The software was recently updated to work with scat, which I like better than the older labview software. I have two of these sets. I also own the newer Mindstorms 5 in 1 set, which is cheaper, but this set is more advanced and uses replacible batteries rather than non replaceable built in rechargeable batteries, which I don’t like.

Good product, previous model
We returned the item because it is a previous model. We decided to go with a newer model. The seller was fantastic to work with. Very understanding and responsive.

Son loves it
I bought this for my 12-year-old son who will be entering seventh grade in the fall. He is really into Legos and robots and anything STEM. The product was exactly as promised and it was delivered exactly when they said it would be

Pieces are missing.
We receive the product with many pieces missing. Fortunately the essential parts were included: the brain, motors and sensors. But so many pieces were missing, that we bought a LEG MindStorm Extension Kit to fix this problem!

This is a great STEM kit
LEGO has hit a home run with this robotics kit. It comes with two "large" motors, one "medium" motor, IR sensor, light/color sensor (don't get too excited, color detection is only up to about 1 to 2 cm away), a impact sensor, and the large computer brick, along with a bunch of lego pieces and instructions for one of the robots you can build. LEGO has instructions for 7 or 8 more online. This thing is a work of art, providing the ability to program (actual programming not this fake analogy like coding) in a couple different levels, to allow the younger kids an easier what to understand how coding works. Initially you can code using blocks, which provide an absurd level of customization. More complicated programming can be done down the road. No, this won't fly or go to the moon, but it is capable of lots of tasks that'll make the designer (your child) think both as a coder and as a builder. For the price, $350ish, it really is a bargain, as they provide a lot of tools that can be customized to make the sky the limit. The one thing not included directly, is a full set of instructions. So I definitely recommend picking up one of the many EV3 discovery books available at Amazon, and they aren't expensive. They will give you and your builder a much deeper understanding as to how the sensors and components work. My seven year old daughter loves this and the interactivity is what really makes this a winner. How to build it, how to make it do what you want, how to improve it.

Great lego set for kids to understand gears, motors and robotics
The media could not be loaded. Great lego set for understanding gear, motors , robotics and programming. My 9 year son enjoyed it and made multiple moving models like robot, car, Dinosaur, robotics arms to pick stuffs.Price is really high and now EV4 is in market.I wish they can provide extended parts for EV3 to convert to EV4 in a kit in reasonable price.Once a full new set is opened, the old legos are piling up everyday (increasing more plastics at home and waste.)Wish they can just release some updates which saves customer’s money and plastic waste in environment.
