Pacific Rim (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray) Review: a fine example of pure popcorn movie magic. - I love this film! as a kid who grew up with 50's sci fi, Godzilla, star wars and transformers moving into mechs was a natural progression for me...and this is the mother of all mech movies! it's such a refreshing thing to find a movie that isn't a reboot, a toy adaptation or over burdened with pointless distractions...but this film is pure popcorn movie magic at its finest! it makes no apologies for what it is...vehicle for truly huge epic set piece battles between big mechs and even bigger monsters, it sets up the lore early, and then sets about the business of delivering the action right out of the blocks with such glorious enthusiasm and energy!. this is no deep intellectual movie...it isn't ment to be, it's ment to be a hugely entertaining ride! And it delivers!. in an era where all to often movies and those that make them feel they need to carry a message in order to justify themselves... Pacific Rim retains its focus on one thing and one thing only... BEING FUN!. Review: Great film - Love this film. Quick hire service good quality

Nothing looks low budget - a pretty good sci-fi save the world movie.
Easily a 4/5 star film. Probably four and a half stars out of five. Solid action from start to finish. Good relationships and characters. The bad monsters are on the whole believable. Graphics and special effects are well done. The biggest surprise for me was that it was a truly entertaining film. It's not short either and I expected it to be padded out, but it did enough different stuff to keep it flowing. Yet when I looked at the picture and read the description I thought it looked like a cheap low budget flop. Given there is only so much you an do with a few monsters and a few huge mech-suits, it's a success.

This Is Simple Awesome
Well I had read the reviews on this so was looking forward to watching it. Wow I was not disappointed, this is full of action, the biggest robots/ monsters I have ever seen in a film and wonder how they made this, and how much it must of cost. No need to go into the story as many others have, so I will review just the 3D which is simple Amazing from the Depth to the Feel of how it appeared out of the TV. A lot of 3D films are not always shot in 3D, but done after, but there is no doubt this was, you feel as if you are in the film all the way through, if my TV was any bigger the 46inch I would of been, be warned its so good on the eye in 3D that it can at times get to your eyes, maybe a slight break during the film may help this, as the action and the 3D takes your breath away. Buy you will not be disappointed if you like action with massive Robots/ Monsters from start to finish. All the acting is also fist class.

It's just cool.
The entire film just repeatedly asks "what's the coolest thing we could do here" and just does it. It's sincere and focused enough that it works, and it sells every moment. It's just cool.

Guillermo can do a lot better.
I bought the special edition dvd to watch this kaiju film for the first time. Not seeing PR in the cinema was lucky, as my first impression was that it's a leave-your-brain-at-home, cheesy, campy, kid's movie. There's no great nudity, sex scenes or swearing in it. However, after watching the film a few times and seeing the bonus content on disc two, I've come to appreciate the making of it. If you're a builder of robots you'll know that giant mechs are implausible because of the weight-to-power problem: The heavier and massive the robot mech is, the bigger and stronger the servo motors you'll need to move it. Bigger motors means added weight, so you'll need stronger servos to move the added weight, and so on until the weight-to-power ratio becomes a losing game. The kaiju genre is Japanese, but there's scant representation of Japan here, except a token Asian girl (played by the stunning Rinko Kikuchi), but her role is played down and somewhat putdown by her overly angry, stupidly yelling, Western counterparts. The acting is over-the-top dramatic and the tension between characters is so forced and artificial that it seems like a parody of the genre. There's a couple of Australians (still Westerners!) whose dialogue is incomprehensible (without English subtitles on) that they might as well be speaking a strange foreign language. Incidentially, I'm not sure why they've portrayed a harmful neural interface ('drift' as they've called it) since the mech is obviously slaved to the driver's physical movements like a puppet through an analogue haptic suit and not controlled via their brain. In the bonus content, the concept artists say they've looked at big, real world excavation machinery as reference for scale, but we don't get the scope or scale here like we do in Cloverfield (which is a kaiju-inspired film) or Gareth Edward's Monsters (and also his Godzilla film), each of which seem to have better CGI renders and physics (it could also be about camera angles and pov?). The artists should have looked at the life-sized Gundam kinetic statue in Yokohama, or even the Liberty statue on Liberty Island, from ground level for more appropriate scale references. Strangely, Gillermo has applied this annoying lens fog or 'haze' over every scene that typically low budget films use to hide cheap and awful visual effects and CGI (so, essentially Gillermo has made a mega expensive movie look like a low budget one!). Anyway, if you're a rabid fan of Michael Bay-tarded films, you'll be a big fan of this cheddar; there's lots of fighting, big explosions, cgi to beat the band, and virtually no plot or character development to get you thinking. I won't hold my breath that the sequel, Uprising, is any better. If you actually want to see a dexterous mechsuit, look up Hacksmith's Aliens Powerloader videos on youtube, it doesn't walk (it rolls on catipillar tracks) but it's the closest thing yet to a real life mech suit.

One of the coolest Monster movies!!!
This is one of the coolest monster movies in years. This movie is directed by the visionary director, Guillermo Del torro (HellBoy, Blade 2). The movie has tons of special effects, visual effects and monster sets that will take your breath away and is a lot bigger than Transformers.Every giant robot has been designed uniquely suiting to the different countries. Excellent detailing has been taken care for the animated Robots and the Kaiju monsters. Charlie Hunnam, Idris elba give some sparkling performances in the film and some comic relief from actors Charlie day, Burn Gorman and Ron Perlman. As for the DVD package it has two DVDs inside; One has the movie itself which is a DVD-9 disc and the other disc which is a DVD-5 contains a host of special features including the making of the film and lots more. The movie disc packs an excellent Audio/Video and has a great quality ideal for home theatre applications. Thanks to Amazon for the great packing and extremely fast delivery as always!!Good work Amazon!!!

film ESAGERATO e spettacolare come pochi, 3D FANTASTICO !!!
