Heads up on the cables
Just a heads up regarding the product description. This is my chat with Apogee, QuestionI purchased this on Amazon: JAM 96k Professional Quality USB Guitar input for iPad, iPhone and Mac with 3 Year Apogee Assure Premium Service Plan. It did not come with a 30-pin cable as advertised. I don't know if I should return it and order another because others are stating they had the same experience. Do I have any other options?Apogee Technical Support - CHCan you show me the link for this item on Amazon? This device has not come with a 30 pin cable for some time now.Royhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JQNO4IQ/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Apogee Technical Support - CHI will certainly have this amended. I really apologize for the miscommunication.RoyI can't seem to find a cable for purchase either. Are there any adapters that would work?Apogee Technical Support - CHWe have stopped manufacturing this cable since Apple has discontinued this connector some years ago.We have not come across any adapters that work for this.RoyBummer I wanted to use this with my older I pad. Another question; If I use the lightning cable with my iPhone 6S Plus is my only option to use a bluetooth headset?Apogee Technical Support - CHNo. iPhone 6s has a built in headphone jack that can be used.In fact, Apple's protocol only allows for one "Audio" device to be attached at a time so you would not be able to use bluetooth headset while using Jam anywaysApogee Technical Support - CH is sharing a file with youiphone-6-plus-review-7.jpgViewRoyNo the 6s Plus uses the lightning for wired headphones which are included with the phoneApogee Technical Support - CHAre you referring to the iPhone 7?iPhone 7 has only the lightning port on the bottomRoysorry yesApogee Technical Support - CH is sharing a file with youimages.pngViewYou will need this adapterIt is Apple's iPhone 7 dockthis allows you to use headphones and Jam simultaneouslyRoyIf I can find a 30 pin cable from the previous model jam will that work with the 96K?Apogee Technical Support - CHyes it will.RoyOr if I purchase the older model JAM I can purchase the lightning cable to work with that?Apogee Technical Support - CHYes that is correct.I would give you a code for a free lightning cable for that.RoyO.K. so it looks like I covered all the options?Apogee Technical Support - CHYes I believe so. If you come across anything else, please return to chat!8:40 AMRoyO.K. thanks

I'll get my money's worth if it lasts 6 months.
It's been an awesome experience plugging my guitar into my iPhone and using Garage Band's modeling amps & effects allowing me to play my guitar as loud and as long as I'd like without disturbing my friends and family. It's quite a novel experience. I could actually go for a walk around the block (or anywhere else I wanted to go), plugged in and playing along. The grocery store, a bar, camping, on a long road trip? Sure, anywhere.Using Apogee Jam is simple and easy. Plug it in, open up Garage Band, fiddle with some settings and I'm good to go. Response is instant with no discernible lag. Tones are crystal clear. I've really enjoyed just jamming away and playing my guitar how I want. However, this product gets 3-stars from me for the following reasons:- Gain (volume) scroll knob feels cheaply made and isn't smooth when making adjustments. No issue with sound or clarity, just the knob feels like it could break at any time.- Lightning adapter is humongous. I've owned a lot of lightning cables from many different manufacturers, but this one is by far the largest, bulkiest adapter I've ever seen or used. It's about twice as fat and twice as wide as a standard Apple cable. I have to take my phone out of its case to fit the connector in, which I've never had to do with any other cable I've used.- Fit and finish seems lacking and subpar. Plastic casing seems lightweight and the chrome wrapping feels like it could be easily scratched (or peeled off). It's interesting to see that Apogee also offers some sort of warranty program (Apogee Assure) for the Jam. Also, I've seen protection sleeves and other products to fit around your Jam. I have extremely low expectations my Jam will be durable enough to hold up to normal use or hold any residual value in the secondary market. I really get the sense if I accidentally stepped on it, it'd turn into a shattered pile of plastic bits. Most audio equipment is built to endure the rigor of gigging. I have no idea what the design team was thinking when they chose build materials for this one. Someone else is going to come up with a better product, and soon.Overall, this is a product every guitarist needs. There are plenty of free/cheap apps you can download onto your phone or into your computer that will allow you to play an electric guitar without an amp. There are plenty of interfaces out there to hook your guitar up to your phone, but most of them rely on your phone's internal microphone circuitry creating lower quality sound input and less response. Props to Apogee for really coming out with a fantastic and innovative product that fits a need. However, shame on Apogee for charging almost $130 for a product with the same build quality as a $10 knock-off.----------Buy it if: you spend more than 30 minutes every day playing guitar in an environment requiring you to use headphones. You might want to think about adding on the Assure plan because of quality issues.Don't buy if: you don't want to overpay for cheaply made product that will most likely be improved or upgraded once Apogee faces increased market competition and has to drop prices or significantly improve quality.

It may change your life
I've been an acoustic player for 35 years, and do have an electric, but I wouldn't play it often because it's just not nearly as portable... You need to be tethered to an AMP. Well, all of that has now changed and after hearing the sound quality, I'm thrilled and amazed! Freedom to jam anywhere! (Well maybe not on the subway... But hey, maybe!)I got this and the iRig HD to test, and te Apogee sounds to me about $20-50 better- IF I'm being very picky. At first I had to go back and forth between the two a number of times to even detect the difference, and eventually found that the Apogee was able to handle a little bit higher volume before maxing out & breaking up.Don't get me wrong, the iRig HD sounds excellent too and I almost couldn't find any difference, they both totally rock! I'm just being a bit of a discerning detailed perfectionist and more than probably spending more money than I need to, but I want the best for my jammin' and am spoiling myself. If you're considering mobile jammin' and have an iPhone with Garage Band, I say do it. If you don't plan on using Garage Band with it, well, you'll be loosing out on lots of mega free very well done amps (may 30 standard ones and then 10 peddles or so, and an infinite number of adjustments / tweaks you can do on any of them). Add in the other instruments in Garage Band, and enter the next level of sweet goodness. Now I know how Lenny Kravitz was able to do it way back when, he had the lots of money that it used to cost to buy all of the equipment. Now it can be done for mere fractions of the cost. I love it!

Brilliant piece of kit
Arrived on time.Does exactly what it said on the box. It really is plug & play.Brilliant little piece of kit. I use it with Garageband on my iPad & iPhone (Apple lightening connector). I have plugged it in to earphones & an external amplifier. No problem. Some have criticised its build quality. I don't. Its nice & light and the connections are satisfyingly positive.Thoroughly recommended. Make sure you get the version with the right connectors for your particular iPad/iPhone model.

but it works very well indeed with excellent sound quality
Comes neatly packaged with clear instructions. The quality of the materials feels a little 'cheap' for the price, but it works very well indeed with excellent sound quality. Very easy to use and connect up.

It's only rock and roll, but I like it.
Cool piece of kit for getting guitar noises into a Logic Pro X :)

Simple and perfect
I have used other audio interfaces in the past, but this is really cool. Very simple setting, no driver, and noiseless input.

Fantastic quality
Brilliant sound quality. I use with iPad Air 2, Garageband guitar amps and headphones, and cannot recommend this combination enough for practice, songwriting and recording.
