My Preference.
These rockwool cubes are a good quality for the price. it has a decent water retention and works well to germinate seeds. You do have to be careful separating them as I have split a few in half, but when I smushed it back together and put it in the hydroponic pod they still worked as it should. I start mine hydroponically and then I transition them to my garden where I leave the rockwool on and I haven't had an issue. Easy to use and I recommend these.

Too small
I ordered these and though they were fine. I ordered the wrong size, so with it being so small. It was hard to get the seeds in without it. Breaking, make sure you measure the size you need before ordering!!

Easy to use.
I like the size and how they are easy to separate. Great seed starter media

Feels like fiberglass
I ordered these because they were on the smaller side and thought they'd probably fit in my "SXDLED Hydroponics Growing System with 10 pods" system pretty well. And that they did, minus the bump on the top of these rockwool cubes. Once I cut off the top of them, they fit perfectly.HowEVER, my hands were itchy the MOMENT I touched these cubes. Seriously felt like I rolled around in fiberglass. I put some vinyl gloves on to help protect my hands, but, alas, it still got all over my pants, and hence, my arms. Vigorous itchy scratching sessions ensued.Since I already had gotten them in the pods, I figure I'd go ahead and use my little tweezers to plant some seeds in them. It's been 2 weeks, and nothing.I'm returning these because, OUCH, and no growth. Back to starting them in a little pot and transferring them over to my square sponges in my hydroponic system. Not a huge fan of that method, but, even a bigger fan of staying away from those evil, tiny haired rockwool cubes.

Great for starting a garden.
Has worked great. All of the seeds that I have started in them have germinated perfectly. Seems to hold water well.

Didn’t work for my hydroponic system
First time using rock wool as the substrate for my hydroponic system. Grew fungus quickly. Could have been a number of unrelated things but overall wasn’t a fan. Very dusty and recommend soaking to cut or use

Perfect for growing lettuce hydroponically
These little rockwool cubes work perfectly for growing lettuce or other greens in a hydroponic setup. My "deep water culture" indoor setup uses two bussing tubs with nine 1 1/4" holes drilled into the cover of each tub. 18 small net pots are inserted into the holes and then the rockwool cubes with already-started lettuce seedlings are placed into the net pots. Add water and nutrients, plus an airstone in each tub pumping in oxygen for the roots, and you have a nice little garden producing fresh lettuce all year-round.
