![The Irishman [CRITERION COLLECTION] (Blu-ray) [2020]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/412kZd221tL.jpg)

MARTIN SCORSESE’s cinematic mastery is on full display in this sweeping crime saga, which serves as an elegiac summation of his six-decade career. Left behind by the world, former hit man and union truck driver Frank Sheeran (Taxi Driver’s ROBERT DE NIRO) looks back from a nursing home on his life’s journey through the ranks of organized crime: from his involvement with Philadelphia mob boss Russell Bufalino (Goodfellas’ JOE PESCI) to his association with Teamsters union head Jimmy Hoffa (The Godfather’s AL PACINO) to the rift that forced him to choose between the two. An intimate story of loyalty and betrayal writ large across the epic canvas of mid-twentieth-century American history, The Irishman (based on the real-life Sheeran’s confessions, as told to writer Charles Brandt for the book I Heard You Paint Houses) is a uniquely reflective late-career triumph that balances its director’s virtuoso set pieces with a profoundly personal rumination on aging, mortality, and the decisions and regrets that shape a life. Awesome film - a modern classic
Bought the film as I always wanted to see it. Save it for Christmas Day viewing. What an awesome movie and true delight to watch. Cast performances outstanding! Just a modern classic.

Make room for Scorcese's finale to his mobster trilogy
All in all, the final (?) part to Scorcese's trilogy of mobster films. This, despite it's flaws is a film that can be viewed over and over. The de-aging technology being the major flaw as the face may look young, but the physicality certainly doesn't. The young DeNiro certainly didn't make that frown when he was a young DeNiro throughout the film. These are young men living in old bodies and it shows. But aside from that this is certainly a masterpiece. A film to watch and revisit time and again. Joe Pecsi deserved every award going for playing against type and nailing it as the elder wise mobster. DeNiro and Pacino are a joy to watch. You'll note that this film didn't come out on DVD or Bluray. Yet on the Criterion collection as it's debut. It's that important.

One of the best movies I've watched - TO DATE
This movie has been perfectly made so it would contest as the greatest movie of all time and in my opinion, just overtaking the God Father. Must watch!

Masterpiece of cinematography
Instead of expecting/comparing to goodfellas or casino, read the book first (I heard you paint houses). Stellar performances from all and what seems a true account of the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa
