Dealing in other Depression without Drugs
I read this book as I was going through mild depression following a major heart surgery. This book, on the other hand, deals with cases of serious depression. The author knows how to write. It is very well-written and easy to read. The author, who is an enlightened tantric monk, offers practical wisdom on how to deal with depression, without pharmaceutical interventions. Most people think that depression is all about sadness. Their misguided advice to a depressed person is to cheer up. The author characterizes depression as emptiness, pain, misery and nothingness all at once.Drawing on Vedic and Yogic texts, the author discusses how to deal with three types of depression. Although the book wasn't for me, I enjoyed reading it. Even if you are not suffering from depression, the book offers interesting tips on wholesome living through diet and exercise.

A Masterpiece! Do yourself a favor by reading it!
Yet another masterpiece by Om Swami. Extraordinary! Swami’s writing style is very clear, touching and addictive. I couldn’t put the book down until completion. His years of experience working with depressed people clearly shows through in his words. This is a must read for everyone (no matter who you are, whether you had depression or not).Having been a victim to this demon called Depression, I stand testimonial to Om Swami’s healing touch. His loving and empathic words worked magic on me. He made me feel wanted in what felt like a wicked world. This book moved me to tears because I could relate to each one of those stories. A deep sense of compassion touched me triggering a desire to spread awareness about depression. It’s a condition that you don’t want even your enemy to experience.This book, written from a Yogic perspective, has the potential to change, rather save lives. I’m planning to gift this book to everyone I know who needs help. Please do yourself and your loved ones a favor by reading this book.

If you have major depression and wonder if getting better is possible
If you have major depression and wonder if getting better is possible, this book will give you hope. The author describes several cases he has helped, some required medicine, others didn't. The author does a good job helping the reader see differences between the types of depression. He also describes symptoms of depression that are not usually discussed in strictly medical articles, but which are common effects on the lifestyles of people with depression. I also highly recommend one of Daniel Amen's first books called Change Your Brain, Change Your Life.

Marvelous book, written with truly yogic and scientific perspective!
This book came along when a close relative was going through the horror of depression, and offered the much needed insight including the yogic and scientific perspective. Different viewpoints on traditional medicine and Ayurvedic and natural healing processes are depicted with genuine, first-hand experiences from Om Swami.Dealing with the emotional and psychological aspects of depression, and solving the root cause of the problem in such compassionate way is what makes this book a unique guide, not only for depression but many life challenges.Throughout this book, one gets the feel of deep wisdom and unconditional love, the eternal hallmark of Om Swami!Oh, and that reference to Andy (from Shawshank Redemption) was an unexpected delight. :)

His words have a Divine power that I cannot explain, they will transform you
I know I'm writing the same review for all of Om Swami's books. It's just that I do not have words to describe, not just the content but the impact they have had on my life. His memoir is now my Bible. I worship it. I read His books and his blog posts over and over and each time I discover something new.. about myself. My family and I have gone through a complete transformation since the day we read His books (and the book 'Om Swami as we know Him' by Ismita Tandon and Swami Vidyananda Om). His words have a Divine power that I cannot explain. We call out to Him and he appears in front of us. I feel I have found myself, my true path and I have found God.

A life changing book!
This book is very good as it explained the reason why people get depressed and how some are not even depressed but just sad. Some of his insights gave me a sense of peace as I was able to see what things in life can make us sad and how we can raise ourselves out of mild depression or sadness without medication.

Excellent Book
i have not read anything on depression subject before, after reading '' WHEN ALL IS NOT WELL'' i have realised that how, when and where i was down in my life and what was the level of depression. i believe that it is superb knowledge shared by Om Swami on how to deal with down moments, deprssion or anything which negative.

Everyone, undoubtedly, has to face Depression at some point of time in their life. No exception to that. Rather stressing out about Depression or getting frustrated with it, it's 100 times wise to deal with it. But a million dollar question is how one can deal with it? Aid of antidepressants, medicines, even meditation and yoga gives a very little result or temporary feel good effect sometime, or doesn't give the exact same result in every case!The monster always comes back to give another nightmare!!Unless we understand this subject as a whole, we will fall short in dealing with it for sure. However, there is only so much to know. So what's the Solution? This book. Yes, this book will help you deal with the subject of Depression in a wholesome way. One need to know only this much knowledge that is presented in this book to deal, understand and solve the Depression from the root.When I read this book, I have finished it in one sitting, just couldn't put it a side. I realized I would never go up to this extent to nail down thesubject of Depression. The author has presented not only the emotional, psychological and medical treatment aspects of Depression, but offered a unique blend of yogic perspective, Ayurveda knowledge, and complete understanding of complexities of life and relationships and imprints of the life events on our mind. Ho scoperto questo libro "per caso" e devo dire che mi ha colpito molto sia per il contenuto (oltre ad addentrarsi nella descrizione della depressione vera e propria, tante storie di persone che sono riuscite a uscirne con l'aiuto della meditazione) sia per l'autore (uno yogi indiano con un linguaggio giovanile data anche la sua età...credo sia dell'81 o giù di lì) di cui poi ho scoperto altri titoli su svariati temi e che consiglierei vivamente a tutti

Highly recommended read
I like it very much. Every word described about the mind thinking and reacting to situations is in depth. This book is quite helpful for people who have suffered depression and I would recommend highly. It contains elements such as food habits, thinking patterns , building up your self esteem and hope to lead a good life.

Read like a Ritual ! 😀
Just reading half way will locate weeds of Depression (everyone has some) and by end of book some will have few Weeds-be-Gone .. atleast subside for sure! A must read over n over to keep them off your "Lawn of Life".. Just Knowing what's wrong always helps to steer and correct..

I always thought of dipression as illness. The book gives good insight on how to deal with the depression and with people going through depression.
