This book really reinforces the middle C position notes on the staff. Lots of practice to write notes. I have used this book with students who already know these notes, but can always use a little review and reinforcement. I did not realize how much they needed it until I got this book. Stems were going every which way! Now my kids are getting more precise in writing the notes and have not only learned the correct way to write notes (note head first, then stem), but have it ingrained into habit. I have given it to my students as theory homework to be completed during the week and suggest they do one to two pages daily. My students who do the work are completing one unit every 2 weeks. There are 5 units in the book. If I had given this to students who were just learning these notes, I'd probably stretch it out a bit more than that.

I used these books for a transfer student who had not learned her note names at the keyboard or on the staff. Teaching a student online who couldn't recognize or name the note she was playing or trying to read was difficult to say the least. These books have helped her tremendously.Like Andrea & Trevor Dow's other books they are very well thought out and easy for the student to understand and use. Yeah!

This is a great resource for students who need some extra practice in Note reading by printing the notes out and enjoy timing themselves for a challenge. It can be an easy, quick daily part of their practice protocol.

I have young students who seem to use only their right hands. This book has made a difference in their reading. Being aware of note differences is what reading is all about.

I love this resource! What a creative way to get students printing their notes on the staff beyond just practicing over and over on a line. Incorporating games and puzzles and combining that with sightreading, seek and play, and pattern recognition will strengthen every student’s reading and writing abilities! The binding quality is fantastic and I make a point of buying one for every student!

I haven't used this book with my students yet but I am excited to start very soon! I have long considered note-printing to be an excellent way to reinforce note recognition for visual and tactile learners. If you know how to write a note, you will know how to read the note! I am so glad to have a resource that uses this technique and I will definitely be incorporating this book into my Primer lessons. I already can't wait for Book Two!

Excellent resource! I ordered one copy and started using it with a student the next day. I will be definitely ordering more for other students. It works so well with the other books in the series, and also on its own to support students who need a little extra. Fantastic price point!
