Bogie and Bergmann at their best
A classic movie, one of the best ever made, great film noir with awesome quotes and atmosphere of pathos. Let's hope they never do a colour version. Black and white really takes you back to the 30s and lack of HD makes it more romantic.

The ULTIMATE EDITION of the ULTIMATE CULT FILM
Few people would argue that " CASABLANCA" is the ultimate cult film. I can't think of another that has more memorable moments or more lines of dialogue that have passed into Hollywood folkore. Since the onset of the home video market in the early 1980s, it has been issued and re-issued several times in various formats - VHS, Laserdisc,DVD even Blu-ray - and there can be no real film buff who does not possess a copy of it in some form. So why pay out a significant sum of money to own this new 3-disc super-deluxe 70th Anniversary Edition ? Well, it depends on how much affection you have for this exceptional film. If you want to see it in a glorious new 4K scan that surpasses even the much-heralded Blu-ray of just two years ago, then this is the version for you. Truthfully, the film has never looked more ravishingly pristine. Apart from the excellent NEW Blu-ray, the set also contains a state-of-the-art DVD copy as well as all the "extras" that were included in previous special editions - which means you can safely replace any previous versions. In addition to which there are a number of enticing new extras. A long-overdue documentary on "Michael Curtiz - The Greatest Director You've NeverHeard Of." This is supported by other documentaries on "The Brothers Warner," "Jack Warner - The Last Mogul" and the four-hour documentary series "You Must Remember This- The Warner Brothers Story" narrated by Clint Eastwood PLUS a whole variety of trailers and shorts. As if that weren't enough, you get an elaborate 64-page hardback book containing never-before published photos and memos on the background of the making of "Casablanca" PLUS a French poster( suitable for framing) and a very stylish pack of four table coasters relating to the different cafes and establishments featured in the film. What it all boils down to is that THIS is absolutely the ULTIMATE EDITION OF THE ULTIMATE CULT FILM and, as such, deserves a place in any interesting collection. I should add that this is a Limited Edition of only 80,000 copies. So if you want it, better hurry - because when it's gone, it's gone.

Film beyond belief
A masterclass in the art of romantic cinema. How theydid it they could not really tell you. They acted their parts picked up their pay looked at the film and could not believe what they achieved. The Colorado load of golden cinema.

Purchased from and watched on Amazon prime Casablanca film 1942
A fabulous wartime drama. It's got one of the most mis-quoted lines in cinema history, but for me, more importantly as it was filmed during the dark days of WW2, the German army officers in Rick's Bar start to sing the German National Anthem and are completely drowned out by the predominantly French customers and band and encouraged by the owner Rick singing La Marsellaise (many apologies if I've spelt the French National Anthem title incorrectly), showing neutral American support for the French and allies. If you haven't seen the film I recommend it to you.

Here's Looking At You Kid!
I'm not going to go into the details and subplots of Casablanca, plenty of people have done that already, my review is purely on this special anniversary edition and restoration set of Casablanca which is available as a Blue-ray + Ultraviolet copy and comes in a Steelbook case, which has the film poster inked on the surface and looks pretty cool. The tonal quality and overall crispness of the print is absolutely first-class, in fact it looks as if it could have just been made and not sixty years ago! It's so fresh and exciting to watch and the audio has been cleaned up so although still a mono soundtrack, it still comes through just fine.My only gripe is that their is no accompanying booklet inside the case, which i would have expected with it being a pivotal anniversary release. The "Master of Cinema" series spoil us with these booklets which are always well made and of high quality, forr many of their releases, which detail the history of a given film, the actors and production crew, as well as other general ephemera. This is a region free disc, so you can play it in any blu-ray player you have at home, which is a nice touch.Still i give four stars, one being deducted for the lack of booklet.

One of the most iconic movies ever.
Humphrey Bogart is Rick, a regular club owner in Casablanca during World War II.As Nazis and the Allies try to outmanoeuvre each other, Rick just wants to be left alone to run his club...but then an old flame appears.
