only fire bbq charcoal basket volcano for Weber Kettle and Ceramic Grills

This vortex product is pretty basic, it doesn't need to do a whole lot, other than get the BBQ very hot! I used this on my Weber 57, along with a chimney starter, half full with Weber briquettes and also placed fresh briquettes at the bottom of the vortex. Once the starter had the briquettes going, I tipped them all into the vortex and the temperature soon hit a stable 250 with vents fully open. I started off open grill cooking home made Adana kebab on wide skewers. After this, I moved onto Angus and Oink rub chicken wings, apple and hickory wood, with the Weber lid closed. I rotated the wings after 15 mins and finished the cook at total of 35 mins. I then went for another round of wings in a different Angus and Oink rub for the same cook time but by this point the temp was sitting 240. Really pleased with how the food turned out, wings had a crisp skin and the vortex works well. The quality of the product is decent for the I price paid and I'd recommend investing in one.

Great piece of kit, simple but works well.

Bad things first. It is too tall to use on a Weber Summit Kamado with the charcoal grate in the highest position and too small to be of any benefit with the charcoal grate in the lowest position.Good things. Judicious use of an angle grinder and the height was reduced by about 15mm. The top rivet was lost but a self tapping screw sorted the mechanical fixing. Now it fits on the charcoal grate in its highest position and the cooking grid now clears the top.Does it work? Oh yeah! A layer of tin foil on the charcoal grate with a circle cut out of the centre matching the base of the cone and it seems to draw air under the cone and blast intense heat out of the top.If it fits your BBQ I’d say get one. I deducted a star from my rating on the basis it didn’t fit without a bit of tinkering.

I love my wingies, and this is a solid bit of kit! Admittedly, I’ve only used it once, and had drank quite a lot, so was doing some late night grilling, but the results were great!

Very good bit of kit. Really focused the heat onto the center of the BBQ grill grid with the smaller opening upwards. Also really helped keep food safe from burning on the periphery of the grid while indirect cooking. With the device the other way up helps keep the coals away from the center if you are cooking a whole chicken or joint of meat. With the latter it also helps keep bits of coal and ash from falling into your drip tray making it easier to use any fallen juices for a sauce or gravy!

This vortex arrived a little bit bent and with heavy scratches all over the outside, but it is still usable for its intended purpose.Packaging was undamaged.

I bought a carbon steel wok for my kamado bbq (louisiana grills) and wanted something to concentrate the heat better, this is perfect and works amazing with my wok. I can now get it really hot for making stir frys, fried rice and the likes. I would highly recommend it if you want that bit more concentrated oomph for cooking on your bbq.I hope this review was helpful..cheersShaun

Made 2 batches of buttermilk fried chicken on the weber with no oil thanks to this gadget. Came out perfect and tastes just like fried chicken. Key is to baste it with butter when the batter starts to cook.
