Pros: This is perfect for artistic kiddos! It gives them the flexibility to design but includes stencils and stickers to help facilitate creativity. My daughter has several different styles of these books and loves.Cons: She prefers the fashion girl styles over the cat and dog version but still loves it. It may be a little advance for kids under 6.

This book was a huge hit for both of my kids, their friends, and cousins. They've had a number of other kids ask them to pull out sheets for them to share.

My 11 yr old found a fashion portfolio and a makeup portfolio in a closet from my older two girls from years ago. She has been very creative lately and this was a third option in the portfolio's available that I could give her to go with the two she found. She was happy to receive one of her "own", even though she adopted the other two coloring portfolios. These are easy for any kid to use because they are pre-drawn, but otherwise blank slates for the child to create the "look" they want.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my friend's 5 year old daughter who LOVES fashion and animals. Her mom said she loves it and that they have spent hours playing with it. From what I have seen I think this book could easily entertain kids from 5-12. The only thing I did not like is that when it arrived the corners of the book were beat up and it was slightly bent. I gave it to her anyways but I would have never bought it from a store looking like that.

Since the classic Fashion Plates are no longer available (and the ones that are aren't getting good reviews) this is a suitable replacement. An added benefit is that only the outline of the clothes are provided on the stencils so my daughter is able to design whatever patterns she wants on the clothes. I don't know how many times the stencils will actually make it back into the book since the little tabs are a bit weak. One has alreay broken off since my daughter was in too much of a rush to take it out. But worst case we just keep everything in a Ziploc bag. She's having great fun designing for the models and their pets and really coming up with some great looks so I'd say it's a definite good outlet for creativity.

My daughter loves this book. She likes that it has people and pets that she is able to design outfits for. Very nice book that allow for freedom of design for more advanced or older kids. The lightly pre-drawn figures gives structure to those that love to create, but do not have artistic skills yet to draw everything for themselves. It also allows for custom creativity such as giving the dog a longer tail or ears instead of what is drawn without making it obvious when they finish the picture. She is 9 years old.

Another hit with my eight year old niece.I chose these because they are a creative and interactive alternative to coloring books. A good transition from coloring books to creating your own art, yet in a creative guided manner. The templates are original and allow children to express themselves freeling---and yet be impressived by what they can accomplished in terms of finished product. And I like the creativity that flows out of such confidences (and onto blank pages turned into pages brimming with art).
