Athlon Optics 8x42 Argos G2 HD Gray Binoculars with Eye Relief for Adults and Kids, High-Powered Binoculars for Hunting, Birdwatching, and More

I recently bought the wife 500 dollar binoculars and cheaper out for myself. I think these illustrate diminishing return on optics well. These are just about indistinguishable in image quality. Amazing.

I got a pair of these as a warranty replacement for some much cheaper Athlon binolars that I dropped and broke an eyepiece on hard pavement in a parking lot, a pair I kept in the car to have handy. Their lifetime warranty came through with a promise of a full repair or replacement of equal or greater value. They really came though with a significant upgrade of my original pair, their lowest cost line, with these Argos G2 8x42. I am really impressed with the clarity and sharpness of the optics, and they are built rock solid with really smooth focus, just the perfect tension, and the binocs overall have a great feel to them. They became my go-to birding binoculars as they out-perform my Nikon Prostaff 3s. The Athlon may be slightly heavier, but superior to the Nikon version in most other ways, and I say that being a die-hard, long-time Nikon user for decades, in both binoculars and a huge amount of camera gear. The Athlons are sharper and significantly brighter in lower light conditions, crisp and clear from edge to edge. The Prostaff has a slightly closer minimum focus distance. The only other main difference is that the Athlon focuses in the opposite direction as Nikon, as do the majority of major brands of optics. It just takes a bit of an adjustment for me. But do not overlook Athlon, a name that doesn't get mentioned as much as the other major competitors, but a strong company that stands behind it's great products.

Absolutely crystal clear. I let my buddy try them this weekend and he commented "These things are like HD, bro!..." They feel like they have some girth and are really well built.

Finally, a pair of binoculars that I can actually see out of! I'm sure there are better binoculars out there somewhere, but for the price, these are great! Thank you for making good binoculars affordable!

For the cost, these binoculars perform way above their price range. The clarity if quite good and build quality/ergonomics is great. In-person, these binos are very well designed and look really cool (better than the pictures on Amazon implied). I will be using these on a kayak and also fishing boat (didn't want to take a really expensive pair on the water). I was not familiar with Athlon prior to purchasing, but I love their products now.
