WHAT A GRAIN!! QUINUA - QUINOA!!! LOVE IT!!
I was born in CUSCO - PERU, CAPITAL OF THE INKA EMPIRE. which it extended from the south of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru. Alto Peru- Bolivia, Chile and North of Argentina. This grain had being the main source of diet for hundreds of years amongst it's people. Being form Cusco I grew up eating it often. I was very glad that Quinua - Quinoa is available in USA and with a reachable and at a reasonable price. I live in the states for a long time now. In the past when I traveled to Peru - Cusco I used to bring some with me just as a nostalgic gesture, now and then I will prepare it just for myself. It was an ordeal to get it through USA Costumes but I had always manage to do it. I simply will tell the truth to the agents. That it was a very nutritious snack and eatable after cooking it... NOW I'm so glad that I can buy to my hearts content as much as I want to and CLEAN on top of it!! How much can I ask? The washing was a pain on the neck I not only brought with me the grain but part of the soil of my hometown with it... I really, really had to wash it very well before I could cook it to eat it!! Now it's a snap!! Rinse and it's ready.. Hallelluya!! I bought about 50 pounds of it before the market realizes that it's very popular and healthy... hehehe :D I'm so glad that Amazon carry it at that almost I will say affordable price?. Thanks.

Good quality ...
I recently discovered quinoa, and I'm having fun finding ways to use it.This particular version of it is good quality, it IS prewashed, and cooks up nicely in 12-15 minutes. The flavor of quinoa is subtle and a little nutty, allowing it to play well with savory and sweet ingredients. One of my favorite salads uses quinoa, dried apricots, golden raisins, slivered almonds, jalapeno pepper, and a little onion, with a dressing made of lime, cumin, oil, and some other stuff.Be careful of the price, though -- it varies a LOT from day to day. The price I paid at the time I purchased it was good, but I've seen it MUCH higher.Overall, a good product -- if you're new to quinoa and don't want to invest in a large quantity, this might be a good first step.

Excellent quinoa
I was a little hesitant about ordering such a large bag of quinoa after reading so many stories on different brands having to be rinsed so they wouldn't be bitter and to wash out debri. When I got it, I didn't think I would be able to rinse it without washing much of it down the sink because the grains are very small and they float. So I took my chances, and cooked it as is. I had never tasted quinoa before so I didn't know what to expect. I prepared it in the same way that I do rice. I use chicken broth instead of water, and add a couple of bay leaves, onion and garlic powders, a little salt, olive oil, and a little ground cumin. My husband and I both liked it very much. So I now have a subscription for delivery every other month. Since quinoa has so many health benefits and enough amino acids to provide a full protein, I also add it to the cooked food that I make for my parrots. Since I also make all of our bread, I plan to add cooked quinoa to some of my bread recipes to increase the nutritional value of my bread. At the rate we are using it, I may have to change my subscription to 25 lbs. every month.Roland quinoa is a very clean and quality product that I would recommend to anyone trying to provide a healthy diet for themselves and their family.

Delicious and versatile
Since being diagnosed with diabetes my days of eating rice were over. White rice especially made my blood sugar spike like crazy. I'd had a bag of this that I'd bought months before (different brand) and decided to give it a try. It didn't cook evenly and I just didn't like it. I'd read to cook like rice so I did. And like rice I didn't stir during cooking. That was the problem. You have to give this just a stir or two during the cooking so the grains (actually seeds) will cook evenly.I've substituted it for rice in a rice pudding recipe where you start out with it raw and cook in milk. It worked great.Once I knew I'd be eating a lot of this stuff I ordered this big bag. The seeds are a lot smaller than the other I'd bought before but you save so much money. I'm cooking at least two or three pounds a week.I'll make big batches and keep it in the fridge. I'll just get some out and reheat.I also put the cold, cooked Quinoa in my salads for the added protein and carbs.I also made a cold salad from Quinoa, black beans, tomatoes, corn, basil, a little olive oil, lemon juice and salt. Fantastic...

Soap Residue Aftertaste
I was thrilled to receive bulk prewashed Quinoa but my excitement quickly turned into disappointment after my first taste. I have had many other brands of quinoa and have never encountered this problem. I bought this product due mainly to the shear amount, I was going through 6 5lb. bags every month. The problem began when I made the first batch by boiling the quinoa ,only to discover that there was a aftertaste of soap. I initially thought It was user error or it was time for a new dish washer. The second attempt had me washing everything twice , and watching the quinoa under a very scrupulous eye. I discovered that as the water boiled with the Roland Quinoa soap suds began to cloud and form atop the surface of the water. I would not recommend this product especially considering the price tag that is attached.
