Superior Product
I had 2 recently and decided to add 2 more as my wife needed extra holding points. Of the 2 additional added had 1 end that would not hold suction. I returned that one and the replacement now seems to hold just like the other 3. You always have to check them out of an abundance of caution but this product has done a fantastic job. I wholly recommend this company. the exchange was exactly what we expect from an amazon vendor. This product is not for doing pullups in the shower. The design makes installation (almost) idiot proof and the finish makes it look elegant.

I've not seen another Suction Grip Safety Bar that I view as better and safer. I'd definitely buy again!
With smooth ceramic tile, and a bit of water or liquid soap on the suction cup to help with a good seal, this grip has been solid and provides a good grip at about elbow height on the tub wall for balance. We are not putting much weight on this vertically mounted bar, but what we are makes a big difference in our stability and safety. This was a necessity after major surgery. The bar has a non--slip grip inside the handle that does help with wet hands. Unlike similar products that I have noted, this one has the handle extending beyond the suction cups. These ends are an idea that I really like because it gives a longer bar, and a place to grab quickly; and it extends the usable length of the handle. The projection also gives a place to temporarily hang a wet washcloth, clothing, or some bath accessory. We tried the one, then I found one similar to the others advertised with the colors on the handle, and no extension of the bar/ handle. The curved handle on the second one would be a concern if trying to recover from a fall because you have to catch it just right. This one with the straight bar makes getting a good grasp far more likely. Although the curved handle cost a fourth as much on sale, and does the job, I do like this straight white one as a handle far better — as does my wife.I was concerned about the film that builds up on shower walls that likely consists of minerals in addition to soap. The instructions on a similar package that I saw suggested cleaning with rubbing alcohol. That was easy. I took swabs, like the ones they use at clinics before giving a shot/ injection, and wiped down each of the two points for the suction cup would go until I was down to the surface of the tile. In retrospect, it did an effective job. Between the alcohol cleaning, and the fluid rubbed on the suction cup, this vertical bar may as well be bolted to the wall. With proper smooth surfaces (smooth like glass and not at all porous) and thorough cleaning this bar is expected to be up for a long time. We do check the attachment every time we're going to get into the tub/shower, as you should. We're in the process of buying a new house and this bar will be there doing its job assuring our balance.

Excellent Aid
The grip bar arrived nicely packaged and was easily removed from the packaging. A "Use & Care" instruction leaflet is included which provides clear and easily understood information for the use of this grip bar. My bath has 4"ceramic tiles so this grip bar fits perfectly. Following the instructions, I decided where I wanted to install the grip bar and washed two tiles with a warm, damp cloth. I then dried the two tiles completely. There is an installation lever on each end of the bar which I easily lifted up into an unlocked position. I placed the bar over the two prepared tiles being careful not to position either suction cup over a grout line. The next step was to flip down both installation levers into a locked position which activated the suction. I gave the grip bar a pull to make sure it was securely in place. This grip bar proved to be of great assistance during my shower. When I finished showering I flipped up both levers into an unlocked position and used the pull tabs to release the suction. I stored the grip bar until my next shower or bath. I used a different grip bar position for the shower then I will use for a bath.If the bars are left attached it is important to test the adhesion before the next use. The instruction sheet makes it very clear that if the grip bar is left attached for a long period of time it may detach and fall. This grip bar is a perfect way to go if you don't want to drill holes in your tiles but want some assistance when bathing. Great product. Highly recommended.

Easy to install
Bought these for my mother-in-law to use in our home. Everything has been great with the exception of not knowing to check the suction regularly. I guess that may be something that people with experience using handicapped devices may know. We didn’t and when she grabbed the bar, it came off in her hand. Luckily, her nurse was behind her. We check it regularly now. Love how easy to use and generally has a strong hold.

Great Suction! Adds Stability For Anyone
After severely straining a calf muscle, I found it a little difficult to maintain balance in the shower. I looked for grip bars, but didn't want to drill holes in the shower. Fortunately, our shower is a "one piece" high-gloss acrylic material and I didn't have to deal with tiles. This OXO grip with 3" suction cups has two clips that "activate" the suction, and once in place, it REALLY holds. It definitely helps with balance, and adds a measure of security for those with minor instabilities who hate taking baths. Just being well over 6 feet tall and trying to wash ones feet is justification enough for this bar!It is up to the usual OXO high quality and well-designed products. I highly recommend this bar, and the price is right.Installation and Use Notes: Oxo recommends that you reattach the bar every time you take a shower, although I think that that may have something to do with tiled shower stalls and product liability. They also state that it isn't meant to support your full weight. Initially that sounds a little silly as though someone would want to do pullups in the shower. However, there might be some who "hang" the bar too high and using it while bending over to pick up soap could put undue pull on the bar. After some experimentation, I recommend waist height and perpendicular.ew
