OTC6734 Ball Joint Adapter Update for Honda/Acura

I too cringed at how much these three (granted, well made) pieces of metal were gonna cost, but it made this job turn from a frantic mashing of random pieces I had in my garage, to a simple job with an impact.I'm using the OEM green ball joint press and didn't need any adapters to fit it. Just switched to the low profile stud and fits directly.Update Jan/2023: Used these same pieces to replace a lower ball joint on a fifth gen Prelude base model. Tight fit, but got the job done just as easily as my Accord.

Works perfectly for 7th generation or 2003 to 2007 Honda Accord. The piece with the notch fits great in the space above the ball joint on the knuckle. Remove the boot and use the press socket along with that receiving cup up top to press out the ball joint. For pressing in the new ball joint, I used a large steel washer from home depot along with an old power steering pump bearing so the top C-clamp does not place stress directly on the ball joint's top. I used the C-clamp from a generic ball joint kit and the receiving cup fits in perfectly also.

Fits a 2005 Acura TSX for removing and installing the front lower ball joint. The generic kits out there don't have the right adapters and the adapter kit at my local auto parts store that you can rent for very low cost (even the one made for Hondas!) was not sized right for removing the lower ball joint. This set had everything you need.Docked one star for the very high cost.

Removed the ball joint on the knuckle in no time. Works well with OMT Ball Joint and Tie Rods Press Kit. Satisfied with purchase.Dont think twice, this is the one you want. Good sturdiness, good value for money, and good durability.

DO NOT waste your time attempting to make due with universal adapters. They will not work. Nor will any combination of sockets. These adapter plus the Goliath press make very short work. Note unless you have 4 foot pipe on the ratchet, borrow a 1/2 electric impact wrench.

Worked great for lower ball joints in a 2003 Accord. Be sure your balljoint c-clamp/press has a wide enough opening though! Some of the ones you rent from the parts store aren’t big enough(6”)!

Excellent set used on a 2003 Honda Accord, OEM ball joint. Impact wrench to remove old ball joint, wrench and socket to install new one. While I removed the knuckle, this tool seems to be capable of on-car use. The slotted cup fits well inside knuckle. New ball joint was first frozen to aid insertion. Keep screw well lubricate.

Works great for a 2004 acura tsx. This product was a life saver when removing and installing new lower ball joints. There are youtubes videos on how to remove and install a lower ball joint with a rubber mallet and some force but why do that and risk installing wrong or breaking the ball joint. I'm not a mechanic by any means but if I can install lower ball joints with this tool along with the required c clamp (speciality tool as well not a normal c clamp) and an impact wrench anyone can. Good quality will last for years.

Used this kit for doing the ball joints on my 2004 Honda Accord. Was good and it made the job a lot easier but with both the piece that fits on top of the ball joint and the piece for sitting over the lower portion it would not fit my standard size C-clamp ball joint tool. Over all it was 1/4 inch to tall. I ended up using the upper piece that has the cut out built into it and it was very helpful, I just used a short impact socket for the lower part and made it work. Not sure if this would affect everyone but it made it a little harder than I was expecting. If my C-clamp was a little bit bigger it would have worked perfect. Still made the job much easier and it was well made.

I was struggling with this job trying to make standard adapters work, which ultimately did not. I got this adapter kit, although I think way overpriced, made the joba a breeze. What took about 3 hours or so of messing around without these took about an hour or less with them. It fits 06-07 Accords perfect and I suspect would be the same for 03 - 05 Accords as well. My only complaint is the price, thus the 4 star rating.

I think that this model is being updated as the fit in the press was not great. It did get the job done without striping the threads of the press.
