You're supposed to write on the white and it transfers to the yellow, correct? Why is it not working?

They ship the paper so the yellow copy won't get markings on it.Pull a set out and flip both the yellow and white page to the other side and keep the yellow on the bottom. You should continue to store the paper the way it was packed and "flip over" the pages when you're ready to use them.

How do i put this in a top load printer?

I take 2 sheets from the top of the ream as a test and use a pen to apply pressure to one side or the other so I can see which side is front and back. Once I have that decided then I know which way the stack of paper is facing and how it needs to be placed in the printer to print. I also take a post-it and place it on the ream so I know for future which way is up. Hope that helps.

Are the papers glued or anything at the top to keep the papers together?

no its not glued, just collated, a laser or ink jet printer will not be able to print if already glued

Is this straight-pull or reverse-pull?

Depending on your printer you put the sheets in upside down. Try by putting the sheets together and taking a pen an make a mark in the bottom corner and see it you get a mark if not turn them over and test again.
