Can you print on this product with a laser printer?

Yes, you can use this with a laser printer. I apply 3 small pieces of tape to the leading edge of the paper to make sure the backing doesn’t get caught as it moves through the printer.

Would this be ok for machined applique for quilting?

I wouldn't. I'm an experienced quilter and work in a quilt shop. For general machine Applique I would recommend Pellon wonder under (not heavy duty), misty fuse or steam a seam. It is a little less gummy for your needle and far less expensive. I use this to transfer hand embroidery designs onto fabric with my printer or copier. Good product but not right for what you are going to do in my humble opinion. Have fun!

I want to draw a design on this. Do I draw on the rough or smooth side?

Draw your design on a piece of printer paper and then copy your design on the Sulky with your printer. Make sure to orient the Sulky so it prints on the rough side then peel the backing off and place it on your fabric. This stuff is amazing! When you finish embroidering your design, the Sulky will dissolve in warm water. I usually use hotter than warm water...it seems to work better. You may need to wash it more than once, but it works really well. I love this stuff! I don't even use a hoop to embroider as it stabilizes the fabric very well.

Can you see the cross stitch holes through this paper?

I printed the pattern onto the paper then stuck the paper onto my fabric but I was using cotton so counting stitches would have been a pain. However it is fairly thin so you can probably see through if you need to count stitches.
